The RMC Paladins were back at Inner Field for the second time this season as they prepared to host the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday. Despite being on their home pitch, the Paladins were not able to get much going against the Hawks, falling 57-10.
In the early stages, RMC found themselves falling behind. With a converted try in the fifth minute, and another in the 18
th, the Golden Hawks jumped out to a 14-0 lead.
Determined to quickly get back in the match the Paladins did exactly that. Pouncing on a loose ball in the Laurier try zone, third-year wing,
Alex Delisle, scored RMC their first try of the match, pulling RMC within nine at 14-5.
However, three more Laurier tries before the half built up a 33-5 lead for the visitors heading into the break.
After the Golden Hawks scored first to start the second half, RMC picked up their second try of the match, thanks to
Donovan Dobson.
From there though, Laurier would tack on three more tries to round out the scoring.
Looking to get back in the win column, the Paladins will return to action on 4 October when they host the York Lions at 1500hrs.
Les Paladins du CMR étaient de retour sur le Terrain intérieur de leur campus afin de recevoir les Golden Hawks de Laurier, samedi. Même s'ils avaient l'avantage du terrain, les Paladins n'ont pas réussi à créer beaucoup d'offensive face aux Hawks, s'inclinant 57-10.
Le CMR s'est retrouvé en déficit au score dès les premiers moments de la rencontre. À la suite d'un essai converti à la cinquième minute de jeu, puis d'un autre à la 18e, les Golden Hawks se sont retrouvés avec une avance de 14-0.
Les Paladins ont toutefois affiché beaucoup de détermination dans l'espoir de revenir dans le match et c'est exactement ce qu'ils ont réussi à faire. Bondissant sur un ballon dans la zone d'en-but de Laurier, l'ailier de troisième année Alex Delisle a marqué le premier essai du match au profit du CMR, permettant aux siens de rétrécir l'écart à 14-5.
Laurier a toutefois inscrit trois autres essais avant la mi-temps pour se doter d'une priorité de 33-5 à la pause.
Après que les visiteurs eurent été les premiers à marquer au début de la deuxième demie, le CMR a enregistré son deuxième essai de la rencontre grâce à Donovan Dobson.
Mais par la suite, Laurier a ajouté trois autres essais pour compléter le pointage.
Les Paladins chercheront à renouer avec la victoire le 4 octobre, quand ils recevront les Lions de York à compter de 15 h 00.
