Sean McDonaugh is the long-time head coach of the RMC men’s rugby program. He is a full-time head coach, who started at the College in 2005 as the assistant coach of the men’s basketball team. Since joining the Paladins rugby program in 2006, he has overseen the 1st and 2nd 15s teams, and has developed a 7s team to compete in the spring.
McDonaugh has also acquired international experience, serving as Team Canada’s head coach at the 2013 World University Games and as an assistant coach in 2017 with Rugby Canada at the U20 World Trophy.
Through McDonaugh's connections at Rugby Canada, RMC successfully hosted the University 7s Championships in the spring of 2019. During the 2019 fall season, the Paladins advanced to the consolation finals to finish the year 6th in the OUA rankings.
In addition to his role with the Paladins, McDonaugh is a Major and Company Commander in the Canadian Armed Forces, and has served on multiple overseas deployments since starting at RMC.
