Achieving such a high academic standard is an impressive feat for any U SPORTS student-athlete, and perhaps even more so for those at RMC, whose college life also includes additional military duties.
As one of the 2019-20 recipients, OCdt
Lambert Girardin, from 2 squadron, has achieved this status two years in a row.
Girardin's Study Tips
For incoming student-athletes, or anyone looking to stay on top of their assignments, Girardin recommends a simple tip that can go a long way.
As a political science or history student, find pleasure and interest in reading on your time. Sooner or later, the knowledge you acquire will come in handy in your works.
Upon earning the honour, Girardin was thankful to those who have supported him within athletics.
"On top of my gratitude towards my teammates and excellent coaching staff, [being named an Academic All-Star] reaffirms my strong belief in the importance of sports for a balanced lifestyle," Girardin said.
Now in his fourth year of a degree in political science, Girardin will graduate from the College as an Infantry Officer in the Canadian Army.
In 2019-20, the midfielder most enjoyed a class that aligns perfectly with his field of study.
"My modern political philosophy class with Dr. Constantineau was amazing," Girardin said. "Going through the latest philosophical critics of liberalism and of our current democratic institutions sparked in me a deep interest for the matter."
While he enjoyed his course with Dr. Philippe Constantineau, a professor in the Department of Political Science and Economics, Girardin named his thesis supervisor as his favourite instructor throughout his time at RMC, saying "thank you" to Dr. Ali Dizboni.
When asked to describe his supervisor, who also serves as the chair of Military and Strategic Studies, in three words, Girardin said:
"Professor Dizboni is… Learned. Insightful. Tranquil."
