Kennedy's Study Tips

For incoming student-athletes, or anyone looking to stay on top of their assignments, Kennedy recommends a simple tip that can go a long way.

Finish your assignments EARLY: During a normal school year, stuff always comes up (duty weekends, PT sessions, etc.). In order to stay on top of everything, whenever I had some free time, I did homework because I saw that as a gift.

Achieving such a high academic standard is an impressive feat for any U SPORTS student-athlete, and perhaps even more so for those at RMC, whose college life also includes additional military duties.

While his work ethic in the classroom is no doubt a contributor to his academic success, Kennedy was quick to acknowledge others who have made his accomplishments more manageable.

"I am extremely happy to be an Academic All-Star," he said. "However, it would not be possible without the help from my understanding coach, my accommodating teachers, and my resourceful teammates."

A third-year Business Administration student, Kennedy will graduate from RMC as an Infantry Officer in the Canadian Army.

In 2019-20, Kennedy enjoyed an engaging course on macroeconomic theory and policy, taught by assistant professor in the Department of Political Science and Economics, Dr. Bill Dorval.

"I loved learning about the various models used to analyze different parts of the economy," Kennedy said. "Even though it was a mandatory course, I believe that most people will enjoy how applicable it is."

Looking back over his time at the College thus far, Kennedy named Mr. Kurt Schobel, associate vice-principal, research (finance) and assistant professor in the Department of Management, as his favourite instructor.

"He presents content in a way that is very applicable to us due to his background within the military as well as the private sector," Kennedy said.

When asked to describe him in just three words, Kennedy said:

"Professor Schobel is… Educated. Experienced. Fair."
