With a four set victory over the Trent Excalibur in their home-opener, the Paladins move to 3-1 on the season – their strongest start since moving up to the OUA from the OCAA in 2004.
On Sunday, RMC and Trent went point-for-point throughout the match, with tight final set scores: 30-28, 27-29, 25-21, 26-24.
Michael Rowsell led a balanced Paladins attack from the outside, slamming down 10 kills in the victory, while
Adam Reid and
Derek Haines chipped in from the middle with six kills apiece.
RMC setter
Jonathan Barton contributed beyond his 19 assists, accumulating 8.5 points, including five service aces.
In a lengthy first set, Reid finally gave the home team the win, cutting the ball perfectly to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
When the second set turned into another marathon, Trent was able to even the score at 1-1.
The Paladins were able to maintain a lead throughout the third set, earning their most comfortable set win 25-21 on a missed Excalibur serve.
After trailing by two at the technical timeout in the fourth set, RMC maintained their composure and mounted a comeback. The final play of the match epitomized the Paladins effort, as
Jason Nadeau sent a strong serve over the net, before
Simon Smith was forced to make an athletic dig. Barton met the ball at the net, and pushed it past his Trent counterpart to conclude the match.
RMC is off next weekend, but will return to action on 26 November with a Friday evening matchup at home against the Queen's Gaels.

Trent a ensuite eu le dessus au terme de la deuxième manche, qui s'est avéré un autre marathon.
En troisième manche, les Paladins ont été en mesure de maintenir l'avance pour signer leur gain le plus confortable, 25-21 à la suite d'un service raté de l'Excalibur.
Après avoir tiré de l'arrière par deux points au temps d'arrêt technique de la quatrième manche, le CMR a gardé son calme et a lancé sa remontée. Le dernier jeu de la rencontre a été le glaçage sur le gâteau.
Jason Nadeau a dirigé un service puissant avant que
