The Paladins nearly earned their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon in their first game at home, but eventually lost in five sets to the Trent Excalibur: 25-11, 22-25, 25-14, 13-25, 15-12.
After trading points throughout the fifth set, Trent called a late timeout with the score tied 12-12, and proceeded to close out the match.
Considering Trent won 3-0 in Friday night's matchup in Peterborough, Sunday's performance from RMC was much improved just two days later.
Emma Titley and
Taryn Bender put up strong offensive numbers for the Paladins, thanks to 30 assists from Emilie L'Abbé. Bender finished the match with 13 kills, while Titley had 10.
On defence,
Jojo Calverley led RMC with 10 digs.
The home team managed nine service aces, with four of them coming from L'Abbé.
The Paladins have next weekend off, and return to action Nov. 26 for a 5:30 PM matchup against their Kingston rivals from Queen's.
