Women's soccer played their final match against the No. 2 nationally ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday. The Paladins got their second tie of the season as they played to a 0-0 draw against the Ottawa side.
The game was extra special as the team celebrated the two seniors, Breanna Habinski and Sarah Nissan.
The Paladins played with lots of heart and grit in the first half, holding the Gee-Gees without a score. The defence was solid and Susie Fox did a great job controlling the midfield for RMC.
In her final game, Nissan was all over the field, firing seven shots, while Océane Rhéaume and Emma Hawken each notched a shot on the net.
In the 79th minute, Ottawa had a great opportunity off a corner but Habinski stood to the test, blocking the Gee-Gee attack. Ottawa's Allana Oriente had a shot that just hit off the crossbar, which kept things tied at zero.
Goalkeeper Breanna Habinski gets her first clean sheet of the year and ends her season with 148 saves after notching 18 in today's game.
The season wraps up with the Paladins earning two ties on the year and notching multiple close matches against Laurentian (1-0 and 2-0) and TMU (2-0).
L'équipe de soccer féminin a disputé son dernier match de la saison, dimanche, contre l'équipe qui est classée deuxième au pays, les Gee-Gees d'Ottawa. Les Paladins ont récolté leur deuxième match nul de la campagne, au compte de 0-0 contre la formation d'Ottawa.
Le match représentait une occasion d'autant plus spéciale que l'équipe a rendu hommage à deux finissantes, Breanna Habinski et Sarah Nissan.
Les Paladins ont joué avec beaucoup de coeur et de ténacité en première demie, tenant les Gee-Gees à 45 minutes de jeu sans but. La défensive a été solide et Susie Fox a fait de l'excellent boulot pour contrôler le milieu du terrain au profit du CMR.
À son dernier match, Nissan a été partout sur le terrain, décochant sept tirs au but, tandis qu'Océane Rhéaume et Emma Hawken ont réussi un tir chacune.
À la 79e minute de jeu, Ottawa a eu une belle occasion sur un corner mais Habinski a répondu à l'appel en stoppant la séquence à l'attaque des Gee-Gees. Allana Oriente, de la formation d'Ottawa, a vu son tir ricocher sur la transversale, si bien que le score était toujours de 0-0.
La gardienne de but Breanna Habinski a signé son premier blanchissage de la saison et elle complète la campagne avec 148 arrêts après en avoir réussi 18 à l'occasion du match d'aujourd'hui.
La saison se termine donc alors que les Paladins ont récolté deux matchs nuls cette année et disputé plusieurs matchs serrés, contre Laurentian (1-0 et 2-0) et TMU (2-0).
