The RMC Paladins played the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday, October 8. In their first home game since September 4th, the Paladins fell to the Lakers by a score of 5-1
Annika Nolte got the scoring started early in the first half, getting the Lakers on the board in the 2nd minute. Later on, Shania Fernandes had an opportunity to put one past Taylor Mitchener but the shot sailed above the crossbar.
The Lakers scored another one in the 24th minute courtesy of Cassidy Brooks. At halftime, the Lakers led 3-0.
Nippising added two in the second half as Jessica Emerson and Victoria Picanco scored for the Lakers.
Hannah Turnbull scored off a high-arching shot from a free kick to break the shutout for the Lakers. This marks the first career goal for the sophomore defender.
Fourth-year goalkeeper Breanna Habinski made 12 saves in the contest.
The Paladins are back in action tomorrow (Sunday, October 9) to welcome in the Trent Excalibur. The game starts at 1 p.m.

Les Lakers ont marqué à nouveau à la 24e minute, grâce à Avery Duguay. Les Lakers menaient 3-0 à la mi-temps.
Nippising a ajouté deux buts en deuxième mi-temps quand Jessica Emerson et Victoria Picanco ont tour à tour trouvé le fond du filet au profit des Lakers.
Hannah Turnbull a fait mouche sur un long lob qu'elle a tiré sur coup franc pour priver les Lakers d'un blanchissage. La joueuse de deuxième année qui occupe le poste de défenseur avec les Paladins a alors inscrit le premier but de sa carrière.
La gardienne de but Breanna Habinski, qui en est à sa quatrième année, a réalisé 12 arrêts durant l'affrontement.
Les Paladins disputeront leur prochaine rencontre dès demain (dimanche 9 octobre) alors que l'équipe recevra l'Excalibur de Trent. Le match commencera à 13h00.
