RMC took on the Western Mustangs in the second of a back-to-back on Saturday (Dec. 3). Despite a strong second set, the Paladins fell to the squad from London, 3-0 (11-25, 20-25, 18-25)
In the opening set, The Paladins were point for point early on, but it was the Mustangs who took the first set by a score of 25-11.
RMC went out early in the second set and took a 4-0 lead on the Mustangs. The lead eventually ballooned to seven as they held a 12-5 lead after back-to-back kills from Taryn Bender and Eve Smith. Western slowly crawled back eventually taking the lead at 19-18. From there, the Mustangs controlled the momentum, winning 25-20.
The third set saw the Paladins fight valiantly after going down 11-6. A Bender kill and Eve Smith ace reduced the lead to one at 14-13. The Mustangs took back the advantage and never looked back, securing the third set and match.
Titley had a team-high seven kills, while also tying for the game-high in digs with 13. Setter Emilie L'Abbé delivered 14 assists.
RMC is off for the winter break and will take on the Windsor Lancers on Friday, January 6 at 6 p.m.
Le CMR affrontait les Mustangs de Western samedi après-midi (3 déc.) dans le deuxième match d'une série de deux entre ces formations à Kingston. Malgré une solide prestation en deuxième manche, les Paladins ont perdu en trois manches (11-25, 20-25 et 18-25) contre l'équipebasée à London.
En première manche, les Paladins ont répliqué coup pour coup avec les visiteuses, mais les Mustangs ont eu le dessus par la marque de 25-11.
Les joueuses du CMR ont démarré la deuxième manche avec aplomb, prenant les devants 4 à 0. Cette avance a même gonflé à sept points alorsqu'elles menaient 12-5 à la suite d'attaques marquantes de Taryn Bender et d'Eve Smith. Western est toutefois lentement, mais sûrement revenudans le match pour prendre les devants 19-18, en route vers un gain de 25-20.
En troisième manche, les Paladins ont bien lutté malgré un déficit de 11-6. Une attaque marquante de Bender et un as au service d'Eve Smith ont réduit l'écart à un point (14-13). Cependant les Mustangs ont repris le rythme et n'ont plus regardé derrière pour mettre fin à la manche et à la rencontre.
Titley a dominé sa formation avec sept attaques marquantes et a dominé la rencontre avec 13 récupérations. La passeuse Emilie L'Abbé a accumulé 14 passes.
Le CMR entre dans sa pause des Fêtes et reviendra au jeu le vendredi 6 janvier à compter de 20 h à l'occasion de la visite des Lancers de Windsor.
