The RMC Paladins paid homage to their graduating seniors as they hosted the Nipissing Lakers in their final home game of the season. Graduates

Liam Murray all started for RMC, while remaining senior
Dean Kiriacou was out of the lineup due to injury.
In the first period, the Lakers were first to find the back of the net just four minutes into the game when Gaël Lubwele opened the scoring. With the goal Thursday night, Lubwele has scored six goals against the Paladins in their six meetings this year.
RMC responded less than two minutes later on the power play, when MacDonald continued his recent hot streak with the tying goal.
Like the first period, Nipissing took the lead early in the second, and then gave RMC a power play a minute later. This time, however, the Lakers were able the kill the penalty and maintain their lead.
Late in the second period, Murray was forced to leave the ice after getting tangled up with Lubwele, as the RMC bench appealed for a high sticking call that never came from the referees. Play resumed with the teams at even strength after the arena attendants scraped the blood from the ice.
The Paladins entered the third down 2-1, but were unable to claw their way back to level with the Lakers. Nipissing would increase their lead midway through the period, before capping things off with an empty-netter. A bright spot for RMC in the final frame was the return of Murray to the ice, having switched out his bloodied jersey for a fresh one and donned a full cage to protect his bandaged face.
Van Schubert stopped 35 shots Thursday night, including one highlight reel save late in the game that gave the Paladins hope in the final minutes.
RMC will play their final game of the year on Saturday in Oshawa, as they wrap up the 2021-22 season against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. The game will be streamed live on OUA.tv at 3:00 PM.

En première période, les Lakers ont ouvert la marque à la quatrième minute de jeu quand Gaël Lubwele a trouvé le fond du filet. Avec son but jeudi soir, Lubwele a amassé six buts en six matchs contre les Paladins cette saison.
Le CMR a répondu moins de deux minutes plus tard sur un jeu de puissance quand MacDonald a poursuivi sur sa séquence de succès en créant l'égalité.
Comme en première période, Nipissing a repris les devants en début de deuxième période, pour ensuite accorder un avantage numérique au CMR une minute plus tard. Toutefois, les Lakers ont été en mesure d'écouler la punition et maintenir son avance.
En fin de deuxième période, Murray a été forcé à quitter la patinoire après un accrochage avec Lubwele, alors que le banc du CMR réclamait une punition pour bâton élevé que l'arbitre n'a jamais décernée. Le jeu a repris avec les équipes à forces égales après que les préposés de la patinoire aient nettoyé le sang sur la glace.
Les Paladins ont entamé la troisième période en retard 2 à 1 et ils n'ont pas trouvé le moyen de combler cet écart. Nipissing a eu le dernier mot en marquant à mi-chemin dans la période avant de conclure avec un but dans un filet désert. Un aspect intéressant pour le CMR en troisième a été le retour de Murray sur la glace, après avoir changé son chandail et porté une grille complète pour protéger le pansement sur son visage.
Van Schubert a repoussé 35 tirs jeudi soir, notamment un superbe arrêt en fin de rencontre pour donner un peu d'espoir aux paladins dans les dernières minutes de jeu.
Le CMR jouera son dernier match de la saison 2021-2022 samedi à Oshawa face aux Ridgebacks d'Ontario Tech. La rencontre sera diffusée en direct sur OUA.tv à 15h.
