Coming off a hard-fought five-set loss the night before, the RMC Paladins took on the Trent Excalibur for the second time in as many days Saturday afternoon at the SAM Gym. Despite their efforts, the Paladins were unable to get past Trent, falling 3-0 (20-25, 15-25, 17-25).
From the early stages of the contest, the Paladins had a tough time generating much in terms of momentum. Finding themselves trailing, RMC did what they could to try and work their way back into the set, however, they were unable to within much more than four points, and would ultimately drop the set 25-20.
In the second set, the Excalibur were able to establish a lead early, and carry it though the set. After Trent went up 8-3, they would late go on to extend their lead to 19-10, forcing RMC's second timeout of the set. Despite the pause, the Paladins were unable to make much of push on the scoreboard, falling 25-15.
As the final set played it, it was a similar script to the first two. Once again, the visitors were able to take control early on and maintain that control though the set. Going up 12-7, Trent created some breathing room, before growing the lead to 19-11. From there, the Excalibur would go on to finish off the set 25-17.
For the second straight match,
Cameron Moar led the Paladins in kills with eight.
Andrew Gallant registered a team-high 16 assists, while also leading the team in digs with four.
Next up for RMC will be a trip west to Toronto. The Paladins will square off against the Varsity Blues January 26 and 27.

Après avoir pris les devants 8-3, ils ont prolongé cette avance à 19-10, forçant le CMR à prendre son deuxième temps d'arrêt de la manche. Malgré cette pause, les Paladins ne sont pas parvenus à renverser la manche, s'inclinant 25-15.
Dans la dernière manche, la situation a été semblable aux deux premières. Une fois de plus, les visiteurs ont pris le contrôle dès les premiers échanges et l'ont maintenu jusqu'à la fin. En avant 12-7, Trent s'est créé de l'espace avant de prolonger l'avance à 19-11. De là, l'Excalibur a mis fin à la rencontre en gagnant 25-17.
Cameron Moar a été le meneur offensif des Paladins pour un deuxième match consécutif avec huit attaques marquantes.
Andrew Gallant a accumulé 16 passes et a aussi mené le groupe avec quatre récupérations.
Le CMR se dirigera vers la capitale provinciale pour ses deux prochains matchs, le vendredi 26 janvier et samedi 27 janvier contre les Varsity Blues de l'Université de Toronto.
