Looking to bounce back from a three-set loss Saturday evening, the RMC Paladins were back on the court Sunday afternoon as they once again paid a visit to the Brock Badgers. Although the Paladins put forth a strong effort, it was not enough on Sunday, falling to the Badgers 3-0 (21-25, 18-25, 18-25).
Ready to start from the very beginning, the Paladins put forth a strong effort in the opening set. Taking the lead seven different times, RMC was able to keep plenty of pressure on the home team during the set. Although the Paladins held a 19-17 lead late in the opening set, the Badgers were able to create momentum. After winning five straight points, Brock would go on to secure the set 25-21.
With one tightly contested set now in the books, the second one began in a similar fashion. Again, neither side was able to distance themselves from one another, but as the scores approached double-digits, the Badgers began to build a lead. With Brock up 9-8, the Badgers went on a five-point run to lead RMC 14-8. As it turned out, that run would allow the Badgers to roll to a second set win, 25-18.
A near carbon copy of the first two sets, the third set saw both teams go back and forth until the middle stages. With the score tied 13-13 that was when Brock began to create a small amount of breathing room. Winning six of the next seven points, the Badgers were able to build a lead that they would then maintain throughout the remainder of the set, en route to a 25-18 win.
Cameron Moar's four kills led RMC's offensive attack.
Andrew Gallant finished with a team-high 10 assists, while
Sam Nissan led the Paladins with five digs.
RMC will now return home to Kingston in preparation for two matches with the Guelph Gryphons. The Paladins will host the Gryphons January 12 and 13 at the SAM Gym.

Démarrant ce match avec plus d'aplomb que la veille, les Paladins ont pris les devants sept fois au cours de la manche initiale, appliquant beaucoup de pression à leurs hôtes. Menés 17-19 en fin de manche, les Badgers ont renversé la vapeur en marquant cinq points de suite pour l'emporter 25-21.
La deuxième manche a été disputée dans la foulée de la première alors que le pointage a été serré dans les 20 premiers échanges. Les Badgers menaient 9-8 quand ils ont marqué cinq points de suite pour prendre les devants 14-8. Cette séquence a permis aux Badgers de s'enfuir vers une victoire de 25-18.
Comme le veut le dicton, jamais deux sans trois, si bien que la troisième manche a été tout aussi serrée avec une égalité de 13-13 avant que Brock se procure un léger coussin, remportant six des sept points suivants pour maintenir le cap vers une victoire de 25-18.
Les quatre attaques marquantes de
Cameron Moar lui ont permis de mener les Paladins.
Andrew Gallant a fini la rencontre avec 10 passes tandis que
Sam Nissan a accumulé cinq récupérations.
Le CMR sera de retour à la maison en préparation pour sa série de deux matchs à domicile contre les Gryphons de Guelph, le vendredi 12 et samedi 13 janvier au SAM Gym.
