With the temperature starting to drop and the wind blowing across the Navy Bay Field, the RMC Paladins took to the pitch Sunday afternoon for their 2024 regular season finale, taking on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. Although RMC put forth a strong effort for 90-minutes, the Paladins would come up short in the end, falling 4-0.
As the match got underway, it did not take long for Ontario Tech to strike first. Just two minutes into the contest, the Ridgebacks were able to get on the board and put early pressure on RMC.
Despite surrendering the early goal, the Paladins did not hang their heads. Determined to equalize, RMC pushed play back into the Ontario Tech end and were able to create a couple of different opportunities.
Neither side was able to find the back of the goal for the remainder of the opening half though, as the score remained 1-0 at the break.
In the second half, Ontario Tech was able to create some separation. Scoring goals in the 50
th and 67
th minutes, the Ridgebacks extended their advantage to 3-0. They would then add a fourth marker three minutes later.
Second-year goalkeeper
Finn Gregoire turned aside five shots in the loss, while Josh Ahn,
Gyu Min Hwang and
Daniel Jung each recorded a shot on goal. Jung's shot came on a late penalty shot that was stopped.
The Paladins will now turn their attention to 2025, as the 2024 season comes to an end.
Alors qu'il faisait plutôt frais et que le vent balayait le Terrain Navy Bay, les Paladins du CMR se sont retrouvés sur le terrain en vue de leur dernier match de la saison régulière 2024, dimanche après-midi, pour affronter les Ridgebacks d'Ontario Tech. Bien que le CMR y soit allé d'un solide effort pendant 90 minutes, les Paladins n'ont pas réussi à avoir le dessus, s'inclinant 4-0.
Au moment où le match s'est mis en branle, Ontario Tech n'a pas tardé à frapper. Les Ridgebacks n'ont eu besoin que de deux minutes pour s'inscrire au pointage et mettre toute la pression du côté du CMR.
Même s'ils ont rapidement concédé un but, les Paladins n'ont pas baissé les bras. Tenant mordicus à créer l'égalité, le CMR a forcé Ontario Tech à défendre son territoire et a ainsi pu créer deux belles occasions de but.
Sauf qu'aucune équipe n'a réussi à trouver le fond du filet avant la mi-temps et le pointage est resté à 1-0 à la pause.
Ontario Tech a pu se donner une plus grande marge de manoeuvre en deuxième mi-temps. En marquant des buts à la 50e puis à la 67e minute, les Ridgebacks ont accru leur avance à 3-0. Ils ont ensuite ajouté un quatrième filet trois minutes plus tard.
Le gardien de but de deuxième année
Finn Gregoire a réalisé cinq arrêts dans la défaite, tandis que Josh Ahn,
Gyu Min Hwang et
Daniel Jung ont décoché un tir au but chacun. Le tir de Jung est survenu sur un penalty qui a été accordé en fin de rencontre et qui a été stoppé.
Les Paladins tourneront maintenant leur attention vers la saison 2025, l'actuelle campagne étant terminée.
