With just three games remaining on their schedule before the Fall exam break, the RMC Paladins made the short trip to Ottawa Wednesday night to take on the Gee-Gees. Trying to get back into the win column, the Paladins got off to a strong start but were not able to keep up with Ottawa over the course of the contest, falling 5-1.
Showing plenty of jump right out of the gate, the Paladins quickly took the lead at the Minto Sports Complex. Not even five minutes into the game, RMC rookie
Fischer O'Brien deflected home a point shot from
Devin Pimm for his team-leading sixth goal of the season. The lead was short-lived though as the Gee-Gees responded just 41 seconds later to tie the game. A little over four minutes later, Ottawa would take their first lead of the game going up 2-1.
Still leading by a goal entering the second period of play, the Gee-Gees offence began to roll. With two goals in the first six minutes of the period, Ottawa turned their one goal advantage into three. Trying to battle back before the period expired, the Paladins were able to prevent any further damage in the period, but were unable to cut into the Ottawa lead.
Making his 10
th consecutive start,
Michael Davis was pulled to begin the third period after making 26 saves through the first two frames. With Davis getting some rest, the third period became the Paladins debut for
Ulrik Roussel. Quickly tested by the home side, Roussel would surrender a goal to the Gee-Gees 29 seconds into the period. However, Roussel would not allow anything further, as the early period marker wound up being the final one of the evening.
On the stat sheet, Roussel would go on to make 10 saves in the third for RMC. Meanwhile, O'Brien's first period goal puts him just one goal back of the rookie lead in the OUA.
The Paladins will now return home to take on the Waterloo Warriors on November 29 for the Alex Stewart Memorial Game, honouring a former Paladin who passed away earlier this year. Game time is set for 1900hrs but those attending are encouraged to be in their seats 15 minutes prior.

Devin Pimm pour inscrire son sixième but de la saison, au premier rang des siens à ce chapitre cette saison. Cette avance n'aura été que de courte durée puisque les Gee-Gees ont répliqué seulement 41 secondes plus tard pour créer l'égalité. Un peu plus de quatre minutes plus tard, Ottawa a inscrit ce qui allait être le but de la victoire, prenant alors les devants 2-1.
Devant par un but en début de deuxième période, l'attaque des Gee-Gees s'est mise en marche. Marquant deux fois dans les six premières minutes de la période médiane, Ottawa menait alors par trois buts. Tentant de remonter la pente avant la fin de l'engagement, les Paladins ont surtout su limiter les dégâts, sans toutefois parvenir à réduire l'écart.
À son 10e départ consécutif,
Michael Davis a cédé sa place à
Ulrik Roussel en début de troisième période, après avoir repoussé 26 tirs en deux périodes. Roussel a ainsi relevé le vétéran pour disputer son premier match avec les Paladins. Rapidement mis à l'épreuve, Roussel a cédé après 29 secondes de jeu en troisième, mais ce fut là l'unique but qu'il a accordé dans la soirée.
Roussel a donc réalisé trois arrêts en troisième pour le CMR. Pendant ce temps, le but d'O'Brien en première période lui a permis de se hisser à un but de la tête chez les recrues des SUO.
Les Paladins seront de retour à la maison pour accueillir les Warriors de Waterloo, le vendredi 29 novembre à l'occasion du match en l'honneur d'Alex Stewart, un ancien des Paladins décédé plus tôt cette année. La rencontre démarrera à 19 h, mais les spectateurs sont priés d'arriver 15 minutes avant la mise au jeu initiale.
