Having just played the number 10 team in the country two days again, the RMC Paladins returned to the ice Sunday afternoon to battle the No. 6 ranked McGill Redbirds. Hosting McGill for the first and only time this season, the Paladins put forth a strong effort, but it was not quite enough in wound up being a 4-3 loss.

As the game got underway, RMC was able to generate offence early on. Creating multiple chances, the Paladins were able to convert just under eight minutes into the game when Nathan Fox fired home a lose puck from the slot.

Carrying their 1-0 advantage into the middle frame, the Paladins continued to build up their lead. Thanks to powerplay goals from William Gallant and Noah Matulu, RMC extended their advantage to 3-0. Nearly taking that lead into the third, RMC was not quite able to get to the break unscathed. Getting on the board, McGill scored a powerplay goal of their own with just 27 seconds left in the frame.

In the third, McGill really began to push the pace. Scoring just over two minutes into the period, the visitors pulled within one before tying the game a little over three minutes later. With both sides pushing for the go-ahead goal the rest of the way, neither side had any success until late. After RMC was called for tripping in the final two-minutes of regulation, McGill took full advantage of the opportunity, scoring the eventual game-winner with just 33 seconds to play.

Michael Davis once again got the start in goal for the Paladins and made 37 saves. Jarrett Todd, Cole Fotson, Devin Pimm, Fischer O'Brien and Bruce Coltart each recorded one
assist.

Next up for the Paladins will be a Friday night contest with the Guelph Gryphons. RMC will host the Gryphons on January 31 at 1900hrs.

Accueillant McGill pour la première fois cette saison, les Paladins ont offert un bel effort, mais cela n'a pas suffi dans un revers de 4-3.
 
Alors que le match s'est mis en cours, le CMR a été en mesure de rapidement générer de l'attaque. Créant de nombreuses occasions, les Paladins ont été en mesure de convertir après moins de huit minutes de jeu quand Nathan Fox a marqué après avoir saisi une rondelle libre dans l'enclave.
 
En avant 1-0 en deuxième période, les Paladins ont ajouté au pointage, grâce aux buts en avantage numérique de William Gallant et de Noah Matulu, portant la marque à 3-0. Parvenant presque à étirer cette avance en troisième période, le CMR a accordé un premier but à McGill avant le deuxième entracte. Les Redbirds ont évité le jeu blanc avec un but en avantage numérique avec 27 secondes à jouer pour réduire l'écart à deux buts.
 
En troisième période, McGill a pressé le jeu, marquant un deuxième but après deux minutes de jeu en troisième. L'écart n'était que d'un but avant que l'égalité soit créée un peu plus de trois minutes plus tard. Alors que les deux équipes travaillaient à prendre les devants, personne n'y est parvenu avant la fin de la rencontre. Après que le CMR ait écopé d'une punition pour avoir fait trébucher dans les deux dernières minutes de jeu en temps réglementaire, McGill a profité de l'occasion, marquant l'éventuel but vainqueur avec seulement 33 secondes à écouler.
 
Michael Davis a une fois de plus obtenu le départ devant le filet des Paladins et il a réalisé 37 arrêt. Jarrett Todd, Cole Fotson, Devin Pimm, Fischer O'Brien et Bruce Coltart ont chacun récolté une passe.
 
Les Paladins reviendront au jeu vendredi soir prochain en affrontant les Gryphons de Guelph à l'Aréna Constantine à compter de 19 h.
