With the calendar now turned to 2025, the RMC Paladins returned to action Sunday afternoon from their December break. Making their way west to Toronto, the Paladins took on the Varsity Blues. Although
Noah Matulu and
William Gallant were able to find the back of the net for RMC, it was not enough as the Paladins fell 7-2.
Able to defeat Toronto in their lone meeting last season, the Paladins looked to replicate that result on Sunday, however, it was the Varsity Blues who were able to establish control from the opening faceoff.
Scoring a little over six minutes into the contest, the Blues took an early 1-0 lead. Toronto would then further build up their lead with a goal four minutes later, and another six minutes after that.
Trailing 3-0 heading into the second period, the Paladins were able to cut into the lead. Scoring his third goal of the season, Matulu pulled RMC within two nearing the midway point of the middle frame. Toronto would respond though. Scoring a pair of goals just under four minutes a part, the Blues extended their advantage to four. Still working to get back into contest, the Paladins continued to battle back. Tallying his first career RMC goal, Gallant was able to pull RMC back within three late in the frame.
Throughout the third, the Paladins tried to battle back but were unable to find the back of the net. Toronto, meanwhile would tack on two more goals to round out the scoring.

Michael Davis made 37 saves.
The Paladins will now return home to resume their suspended game against Ottawa on January 7 at Constantine Arena. The puck will drop at 1900hrs.

En retard 3-0 en début de deuxième période, les Paladins ont pu réduire l'avance. Avec son troisième but de la saison, Matulu a ramené l'écart à deux buts vers la mi-chemin de la période. Toronto a répliqué alors, marquant deux buts en moins de quatre minutes d'écart, prolongeant l'avance des Varsity Blues à quatre buts. Ne lâchant pas prise pour autant, les Paladins ont redoublé d'ardeur. Marquant son premier but en carrière avec le CMR, Gallant a réduit l'écart à trois buts en fin de période.
Tout au long de la troisième période, les Paladins ont trimé dur pour revenir dans ce match, mais ils ne sont pas parvenus à trouver le fond du filet. Pendant ce temps, Toronto a ajouté deux autres buts pour compléter la marque.
Michael Davis a repoussé 37 tirs devant le filet du CMR.
Les Paladins rentrent maintenant à la maison pour reprendre leur match suspendu contre Ottawa le 7 janvier à l'Aréna Constantine. La rondelle sera mise au jeu à 19 h (HE).
