Finishing up a two-day two-game road trip Sunday afternoon, the RMC Paladins made their way to Peterborough for a meeting with the Trent Excalibur. In what was the second meeting of the season with Trent, the Paladins were unable to get by the Excalibur, falling 2-0.
Striking early, the Excalibur were able to take an early lead over RMC with a goal in the ninth minute.
The Paladins looked to generate some offence of their own after surrendering the early marker, but did not have much luck in the attacking end during the opening half.
Still trailing by one entering the second half, the Paladins were able to create a couple of chances with a pair of shots on goal. Unfortunately, for RMC, neither attempt would find the back of the net.
With the score still holding at 1-0 late in the match, Trent would put the game away with a goal in stoppage time.
Arvin Holman and
Lionel Fotso Wafo registered the two RMC shots on goal. Meanwhile, goalkeeper
Finn Gregoire made nine saves in the match.
The Paladins will now return home for their final game of the season when they host the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on 12 October at 1500.
En conclusion d'une série de deux matchs en deux jours en déplacement dimanche après-midi, les Paladins du CMR étaient en action à Peterborough pour y affronter l'Excalibur de Trent. Dans le deuxième duel cette saison entre ces deux formations, les Paladins n'ont pas su avoir le meilleur contre l'Excalibur, s'inclinant 2-0.
Frappant tôt dans le match, l'attaque de l'Excalibur a ouvert la marque dès la neuvième minute de jeu.
Les Paladins ont cherché à générer des occasions de marquer après avoir cédé le premier but, mais ils n'ont pas trop eu de succès au cours de la première demie.
En retard par un but au début de la deuxième demie, les Paladins se sont amenés au filet adverse et ont réussi deux tirs cadrés. Malheureusement pour le CMR, cette paire de tentatives n'a pas porté ses fruits.
Toujours en avant 1-0 en fin de rencontre, Trent a mis le match hors de portée avec un but dans la reprise du temps arrêté.

Les Paladins rentreront à la maison pour leur dernier match du calendrier régulier à l'occasion de la visite des Ridgebacks d'Ontario Tech, le dimanche 12 octobre à 15 h.
