Hitting the road for a pair of games this weekend, the RMC Paladins were in Montreal Saturday night for a date with the No. 6 ranked Concordia Stingers, before heading to Ottawa on Sunday. Falling behind early on, the Paladins were unable to fully recover in a 7-3 loss.

The Stingers were able to open the scoring just over seven minutes into the contest. In the two teams only previous meeting this season, Concordia did the same thing back in October. In that contest, RMC was able to respond with a pair of goals for a 2-1 lead at the intermission. Unfortunately, the same could not be said on Saturday. Perhaps with that on their minds, Concordia continued to push and would wind up adding two more goals before the intermission for a 3-0 lead after one.

Trying to get back into the contest, the Paladins were able to score the first goal of the middle frame. From a sharp angle, second-year forward Noah Matulu was able to fire home his first goal of the season. Concordia would quickly respond though. Less than a minute later, the Stingers would regain their three-goal lead. Adding to their advantage, Concordia would score two more times, taking a 6-1 lead into the second intermission.

After the Stingers struck again to start the third, the Paladins were able to generate a bit more offence of their own. First, while on the powerplay, Cole Foston tallied his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Then just under four minutes later, the Paladins trimmed the deficit down to four when Kilian McGregor-Bennett put home his second goal of the season. Despite a continued push from RMC, they were unable to get any closer, falling 7-3.

First-year netminder, Ethan Morrow made 29 saves through two periods, before giving way to senior goalie, Michael Davis in the third. Davis would make 14 saves in his 20 minutes of play. Bradley Blake, Dell Welton, Fischer O'Brien and Brayden Knox would each record one assist in the defeat.

RMC will now start working their way back west as they head to Ottawa. The Paladins will take on the Gee-Gees on November 16 at 1500hrs.

En déplacement pour une paire de rencontres ce weekend, les Paladins du CMR étaient à Montréal samedi soir pour un rendez-vous avec les Stingers de Concordia, classés sixièmes au pays, avant de mettre le cap sur Ottawa dimanche. Encaissant les premiers buts en début de rencontre, les Paladins n'ont pas été en mesure de se relever, s'inclinant 7-3.

Les Stingers ont ouvert la marque après seulement sept minutes de jeu dans ce match. Dans le seul duel entre les deux équipes plus tôt cette saison, Concordia avait servi la même recette au mois d'octobre. Dans ce match, le CMR a été en mesure de marquer deux fois pour prendre les devants 2-1 avant le premier entracte. Malheureusement, la même chose ne s'est pas produite samedi. Concordia semblait avoir retenu la leçon et a ajouté deux autres buts au premier vingt pour se donner une avance de 3-0 après une période de jeu.

Tentant de revenir dans le match, les Paladins ont été les premiers à marquer en deuxième période. D'un angle serré, l'attaquant de deuxième année Noah Matulu a inscrit son premier but de la saison. Concordia a rapidement répliqué toutefois, se redonnant une priorité de trois buts moins d'une minute plus tard. Ajoutant à son avance, Concordia a marqué deux autres buts, menant 6 à 1 après 40 minutes de jeu.

Après que les Stingers ajoutent un septième but pour démarrer la troisième période, les Paladins ont été en mesure de générer un peu plus d'attaque. D'abord, sur un jeu de puissance, Cole Foston a marqué son sixième de la saison, un sommet chez les siens. Puis, moins de quatre minutes plus tard, les Paladins ont réduit l'écart à quatre buts quand Kilian McGregor-Bennett a enfilé son deuxième but de la saison. Malgré une poussée constante du CMR, les Paladins n'ont pas pu s'approcher davantage, s'inclinant 7-3.

Le gardien recrue Ethan Morrow a réalisé 29 arrêts en deux périodes de jeu, cédant sa place au finissant Michael Davis en troisième. Davis a réalisé 14 arrêts en 20 minutes de jeu. Bradley Blake, Dell Welton, Fischer O'Brien et Brayden Knox ont chacun amassé une passe dans la défaite.

Le CMR jouera son prochain match dimanche à 15 h contre les Gee-Gees d'Ottawa, dans la capitale canadienne.
