Less than 24-hours removed from a hard fought loss against the No. 4 Windsor Lancers, the RMC Paladins were back in the SAM Gym Saturday afternoon to take another shot at Windsor. Although having plenty of competitive moments throughout the match, the Paladins were unable to keep up with Windsor in a 3-0 (16-25, 21-25, 15-25) loss.
Picking up right where they left off yesterday, the Paladins and Lancers started the match going back and forth, with plenty of long rallies along the way. Into the teens, the set remained very close. Tied 11-11, the Paladins would take the next point, going up by one. However, at that point Windsor seemed to find their groove. The Lancers would win the next four points, forcing an RMC timeout at 15-12. The break did not slow the Windsor momentum though, as they continued to stay on the attack, winning 10 of the next 14 points, taking the opening set 25-16.
Trying to get back on even terms in the second set, the Paladins, once again, were battling from the very start. For much of the set though, RMC seemed to be trailing by a couple of points. Although they did not allow Windsor to pull away too much, the Paladins had a tough time pulling even with the Lancers down the stretch of the set. Trailing 23-18 late, RMC did make a late push, closing the gap to 23-21. Out of a Lancers timeout though, Windsor went on to take the next two points to win the set 25-21.
In the third set, Windsor was able to create a bit of separation early on in the set, forcing an RMC timeout leading 13-9. Continuing push, the Lancers forced the Paladins into their second timeout at 17-10. Although RMC did their best to fight back, the mountain proved a too big to climb, as the Lancers finished of the set 25-15.
Offensively,
Carter Liu and
Tommy Roussel tied for the team-high in digs with five each.
Christian Patterson led the team in assists with 17, while Liu finished with the team-high in digs with five.
The Paladin will now hit the road on November 15 as they head west to Guelph to take on the Gryphons.

Reprenant là où ils avaient laissé la veille, les Paladins et les Lancers ont entrepris le match en s'échangeant les points à tour de rôle, avec plusieurs longues séquences de jeu. Après que les deux équipes aient atteint le cap de la dizaine de points, la manche est restée très serrée. À égalité 11-11, les Paladins ont remporté l'échange suivant, prenant une avance d'un point. C'est toutefois à ce moment que Windsor a semblé trouver ses repères. Les Lancers ont alors remporté les quatre points suivants, forçant le CMR à demander un temps d'arrêt à 15-12. Cette pause n'a pas réussi à briser l'élan de Windsor, par contre, et les visiteurs ont continué de presser le jeu à l'attaque, décrochant 10 des 14 points suivants pour s'emparer de la première manche au compte de 25-16.
Cherchant à revenir à égalité en deuxième manche, les Paladins ont encore une fois bataillé ferme au départ. Pendant une bonne partie de la manche, toutefois, le CMR s'est le plus souvent trouvé en retard de deux points. Bien qu'ils n'aient pas laissé Windsor trop se détacher, les Paladins ont eu de la difficulté à revenir à égalité avec les Lancers dans le dernier droit de cette manche. Tirant de l'arrière 23-18 vers la fin, le CMR y est quand même allé d'une poussée, réduisant l'écart à 23-21. Après avoir demandé un temps d'arrêt, toutefois, Windsor est allé chercher les deux points suivants pour s'imposer 25-21.
En troisième manche, Windsor a réussi à se doter d'une relativement belle avance au début, forçant le CMR à demander un temps d'arrêt avec une priorité de 13-9. Continuant à appliquer de la pression, les Lancers ont provoqué un deuxième temps d'arrêt des Paladins à 17-10. Bien que le CMR ait fait de son mieux pour remonter la pente, cette pente était trop abrupte et les Lancers ont mis fin à la manche sur le pointage de 25-15.
Offensivement,
Carter Liu et
Tommy Roussel y sont tous deux allés de cinq attaques marquantes chacun, un sommet chez les Paladins.
Christian Patterson a été le meilleur au chapitre des passes avec 17, tandis que Liu a réalisé le plus grand nombre de récupérations, soit cinq.
Les Paladins mettront le cap sur Guelph pour leur prochain match, le samedi 15 novembre contre les Gryphons.
