Playing their fourth match of the season Saturday afternoon, the RMC Paladins returned to the Navy Bay Field to take on the Trent Excalibur. Unfortunately, the Paladins fell behind early in the match and were unable to gain much momentum, falling 6-0.
The Excalibur got on the board in the fourth minute of play to take an early 1-0 lead.
Although RMC was able to settle in a bit after the goal, and even created a chance for
Chris Knock about twenty minutes after, they were unable to fend off the Trent attack that came on shortly following the 30-minute mark.
Scoring in the 33
rd and 36
th minute, Trent quickly turned their 1-0 lead into a three-goal advantage heading into the half.
Coming out of the break, the Excalibur kept the pressure on with goals in the 54
th, 58
th and 89
th minute.
Knock would record RMC lone shot on goal in the match, while Paladin keeper, Aubry Assongba, who got the start with RMC's top two goals injured, made four saves.
The Paladins will quickly return to action tomorrow (14 September) when they the Toronto Varsity Blues at 1500hrs.
Disputant leur quatrième match de la saison, samedi après-midi, les Paladins du CMR étaient de retour au terrain Navy Bay pour y affronter l'Excalibur de Trent. Malheureusement, les Paladins se sont retrouvés en déficit au pointage tôt dans la rencontre et ils ont été incapables de prendre leur élan pour remonter la pente, si bien qu'ils se sont inclinés 6-0.
L'Excalibur s'est inscrit au pointage à quatrième minute de jeu pour ainsi prendre les devants 1-0.
Bien que le CMR ait quelque peu trouvé ses repères après ce but, obtenant même une occasion au profit de
Chris Knock une vingtaine de minutes plus tard, l'équipe n'a pas réussi à résister à la force offensive de Trent peu après le cap des 30 minutes de jeu.
En trouvant le fond du filet à la 33e puis à la 36e minute, Trent a vite transformé son avance de 1-0 en priorité de trois filets en vue de la mi-temps.
Après la pause, l'Excalibur a continué d'appliquer de la pression, ce qui s'est traduit par des buts à la 54e, 58e et 89e minute.
Knock a décoché le seul tir au but du CMR durant l'affrontement tandis que le gardien de but des Paladins, Aubry Assongba, a réalisé quatre arrêts. Celui-ci a amorcé le match alors que les deux premiers gardiens du CMR sont blessés.
Les Paladins seront vite de retour sur le terrain, dès dimanche (14 septembre), quand ils affronteront les Varsity Blues de Toronto à compter de 15 h.
