The RMC Paladins earned their way back in to the win column Saturday afternoon with a gutsy come from behind effort in at Navy Bay Field. After falling behind 1-0, the Paladins got goals from Angelica Labelle and Bellarosa Ternes to come away with a 2-1 victory over the Trent Excalibur.

Already their second win of the season, Saturday's triumph marked the first time since 2016 that the women's soccer program will have registered at least two victories in one season.

In what was a very even match all throughout the 90 minutes, both teams created plenty of chance, giving all those in attendance plenty of reason to be on the edge of their seats.

After the two sides went back and forth for much of the opening half, it was the visitors who would break through first with a goal in the 39^th minute.

However, eager to respond, RMC wasted hardly anytime to find the equalizer. Earning a free-kick just outside of the penalty area, to the left of the Trent goal, the Paladins took full advantage. Getting her head on the crosser, Labelle tallied her second goal of the season.

Coming out of the half tied 1-1, the Paladins earned another tremendous opportunity in the 57^th minute. Working her way through the Trent box, Ternes was taken down and awarded a penalty kick. The second-year midfielder made no mistake from the spot giving RMC their first lead of the match.

Although the chances were there to be had the rest of the way for both sides, neither team would find the back of the net again.

The Paladins attack finished the match with six shots on goal. Labelle led the team with three of her own. In goal for RMC, Brianna West made nine saves.

Now 2-2-0 to start the season, RMC will ahead across town tomorrow (14 September) to battle the Queen's Gaels. The match is scheduled for 1500hrs.

Les Paladins du CMR ont retrouvé le sentier de la victoire samedi après-midi en réalisant une remontée victorieuse sur le terrain Navy Bay. Après avoir encaissé le premier but, les Paladins ont profité des efforts d'Angelica Labelle et de Bellarosa Ternes pour signer un gain de 2-1 sur l'Excalibur de Trent.

Le triomphe de samedi marquait la première fois depuis 2016 que le programme féminin de soccer des Paladins signait au moins deux victoires en une saison.

Dans ce qui a été un match bien partagé sur les 90 minutes du temps réglementaire, les deux équipes ont créé de nombreuses occasions de marquer, offrant à tous ceux présents des occasions de rester au bout de leur siège.

Après que les deux équipes ont remonté le terrain dans les deux directions, ce sont les visiteuses qui ont ouvert la marque en trouvant le fond du filet à la 39e minute.

Ne se laissant pas décourager le CMR a rapidement trouvé le moyen de créer l'égalité. Obtenant un coup franc tout juste à l'extérieur de la surface de réparation adverse à la gauche du but de Trent, les Paladins en ont profité. Le centre dans la surface a été redirigé dans les cordages par un coup de tête de Labelle, pour son deuxième but de la saison.
Sortant de la pause à égalité 1-1, les Paladins ont bénéficié d'une autre excellente occasion à la 57e minute. Se frayant un chemin jusque dans la surface de Trent, Ternes a été fauchée et a obtenu un penalty.  La milieu de terrain de deuxième année, elle a fait mouche pour offrir au CMR sa première avance de la rencontre.

Même si les occasions se sont à nouveau présentées jusqu'à la fin du match des deux côtés du terrain, aucune des deux équipes n'a su tromper la vigilance des gardiens.

L'attaque des Paladins a conclu la rencontre avec six tirs au but. Labelle a mené l'équipe avec trois tirs. Devant le filet du CMR, Brianna West a réalisé neuf arrêts.

Avec une fiche de 2-2-0 pour démarrer la saison, le CMR ira de l'autre côté de la ville dimanche (14 septembre) pour rendre visite aux Gaels de Queen's. Ce match est prévu à 15 h.
