On the road to take on the No. 6 team in the country, the RMC Paladins made their way to Toronto Saturday afternoon for a battle with the TMU Bold. Although RMC was able to find the back of the net late, it was not quite enough in a 3-1 loss to the home side.
Unfortunately, for RMC, the match did not get off to the start they were hoping for. Only in the sixth minute, the Bold were able to play the ball forward a convert on the first opportunity of the match.
Then just 13 minutes later, the Bold would double their lead. On the attack, TMU executed a cross to perfection leading to their second goal of the match.
The Bold would carry to the two-goal lead into halftime.
The 2-0 score would hold through a large portion of the second half. However, in the 75
th minute, TMU would break through the Paladins defence to tally their third goal of the match.
Determined to not go quietly, the Paladins did everything they could to force the play back towards TMU's end.
In the 85
th minute, RMC's pressure would pay off. After scoring the late equalizer last week against Trent,
Rory Chapman broke into the TMU box and was hauled down resulting in a penalty for RMC. Stepping up to the spot,
Arvin Holman converted the penalty, pulling RMC within two.
The Paladins would do their best to press TMU the rest of the way, but in the end, there was not enough time for RMC to work with.
RMC will now turn to the page to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, who they will pay a visit to on Sunday.
En déplacement à Toronto samedi après-midi pour affronter la sixième équipe au classement national, l'équipe masculine de soccer des Paladins du CMR a trouvé le fond du filet en fin de rencontre pour éviter le jeu blanc, mais se s'est quand même inclinée 3-1 aux mains du Bold de TMU.
Malheureusement pour le CMR, la rencontre n'a pas démarré comme espéré. Après seulement six minutes de jeu, le Bold a été en mesure d'attaquer et de convertir sur sa première occasion de la rencontre.
Puis, 13 minutes plus tard, le Bold a doublé son avance. L'attaque de TMU a réalisé un centre parfait pour mettre la table à son deuxième but de la rencontre.
Le Bold a maintenu cette avance jusqu'à la mi-temps.
Ce pointage de 2-0 a tenu en deuxième demie jusqu'à la 75e minute, quand TMU a percé la défensive des Paladins pour inscrire leur troisième but du match.
Déterminés à répliquer avant que le temps soit écoulé, les Paladins ont tout tenté pour forcer le jeu dans la moitié de terrain des hôtes.
À la 85e minute, cette pression du CMR a rapporté. Après avoir marqué le but égalisateur en fin de rencontre la semaine dernière contre Trent,
Rory Chapman s'est faufilé dans la surface de réparation adverse et a été accroché, ce qui a entraîné un penalty pour les Paladins.
Arvin Holman s'est présenté au ballon et a fait mouche pour réduire l'écart à deux buts.
Les Paladins ont ensuite fait de leur mieux pour presser le jeu jusqu'à la fin du match, mais le temps a manqué pour renverser la situation en leur faveur.
Le CMR devra maintenant tourner la page avant d'affronter les Ridgebacks d'Ontario Tech, dimanche à Oshawa.
