The Paladins picked up another win to move to 2-1 on the season, defeating the Trent Excalibur on the road Friday night 3-1: 15-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22.
Trent took the opening set rather handily, but RMC didn't panic, and regrouped before coming out for the second set.
The teams traded points and runs for the remaining three sets, but it always seemed to be the Paladins coming away with the ones that mattered most.
At 24-23 in the second set, team captain
Jonathan Barton was back to serve for RMC. The veteran put all his power into a spin serve, cranking out one of his six aces in the match.
Barton also polished off the third set to give the Paladins their first lead of the match. A
Michael Rowsell hit beat a triple block and resulted in an errant Excalibur pass tight to the net, which Barton met and sent straight down on Trent's side.
In the final set, Rowsell cut the ball cross-court to hand the Paladins the victory.
Rowsell's 12 kills were the second part of a two-pronged attack, which was spear-headed by
Derek Haines, who ended the match with 15.5 points and 13 kills. Barton recorded 33 assists in the win.
The Paladins will welcome Trent to Kingston on Sunday at 4:30 PM for the second half of a home-and-home.

Dans la dernière manche, Rowsell a frappé une balle en diagonale pour procurer la victoire aux Paladins.

Derek Haines, auteur de 15,5 points et 13 attaques marquantes. Barton a amassé 33 passes décisives dans la victoire.
Les Paladins accueilleront Trent à 16h30 dimanche à Kingston pour la deuxième partie de cette série aller-retour.
