The RMC Paladins couldn't get the better of the Queen's Gaels in the third meeting between the two Kingston schools this season, as the Gaels defeated RMC 5-2 at the Memorial Centre Friday night.
The Paladins fell behind in the opening period when Hayden Fowler found the back of the net on the power play for the Gaels. Jack Duff followed that up with another Queen's goal to double the home side's lead midway through the first period.
Three minutes prior to the first intermission, the Paladins scored a power play marker of their own to narrow the gap when
Brent Broaders netted his second goal of the season.
Moments before the period expired, Broaders was joined on the scoresheet by teammate Mitchell Larabie, who was able to score thanks in large part to
Ryan Smith's presence in front of the Gaels goal.
Smith earned two assists in the game, while
Christian Tsukamoto and
Devin Leduc earned the others.
After the teams played a scoreless second period, Queen's struck early in the third on a power play that carried over into the final frame. Two more goals from the Gaels in the last five minutes of play sealed the Paladins fate, as they look ahead to next week's home games.
Joey May got the start in goal for the Paladins, stopping 38 shots Friday night.
RMC will play their final games of the fall term next week at home, hosting the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Thursday night at 7:00 PM and the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday at 2:00 PM.

Il s'agissait du troisième duel cette saison entre les voisins de Kingston et Queen's a pris les devants en première période sur un but de Hayden Fowler en avantage numérique. Jack Duff a doublé l'avance des siens à mi-chemin en première.
Trois minutes avant le premier entracte, les Paladins se sont inscrits au pointage en avantage numérique sur le deuxième but de la saison de
Brent Broaders.
Tout juste avant que la période prenne fin, Mitchell Larabie a profité de la présence de
Ryan Smith devant le but des Gaels pour créer l'égalité.
Smith a ainsi préparé les deux buts des Paladins, tandis que
Christian Tsukamoto et
Devin Leduc ont aussi amassé une passe.
Après que les équipes ont joué une deuxième période sans but, Queen's a pris les devants tôt en troisième période sur un avantage numérique hérité de la fin de la deuxième période. Les Gaels ont ajouté deux autres buts dans les cinq dernières minutes pour sceller l'issue de cette rencontre.
Joey May a démarré le match devant le filet des Paladins, arrêtant 38 tirs vendredi soir.
Le CMR disputera ses derniers matchs de la session d'automne à domicile, la semaine prochaine avec la visite des Ridgebacks d'Ontario Tech, jeudi soir à 19h et des Lakers de Nipissing, samedi à 14h.
