The RMC Paladins welcomed the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks to Kingston in a rare Thursday night game, in which the hosts fell 4-0.
RMC's only win of the year came at the expense of Ontario Tech the last time the Ridgebacks came to Kingston, blanking the team from Oshawa 2-0 back in November.
The Ridgebacks continued a pattern against the Paladins in the first period by scoring on the power play. Noah McMullin gave Ontario Tech the lead on the man-advantage, as RMC has struggled on the penalty kill so far this season.
Joey May was in goal for his second straight start for RMC. He finished as the busier of the two netminders in the game with 28 saves, including a few outstanding ones.
A scoreless second period was not without its excitement, as 20 minutes of penalties were called on a single play, initiated by hit from
Noah Rowe in the defensive end. Rowe earned a minor and a 10 minute misconduct for a hit to the head, and the ensuing scrum sent players from both teams to the box. All players were able to skate away from the incident and continue to play in the game.
Six minutes into the final frame, Sean Ross doubled the Ridgebacks lead. Ontario Tech teammate Matthew Barron followed suit to make it 3-0 midway through the third.
Tyson McConnell scored the final goal with 20 seconds remaining.
The Paladins final game of 2021 will take place Saturday in Kingston when RMC hosts Nipissing at 2:00 PM.

La seule victoire du CMR cette saison a été aux dépens d'Ontario Tech à l'occasion de la dernière visite des Ridegbacks à Kingston, par la marque de 2-0 en novembre sur l'équipe basée à Oshawa.
Les Ridgebacks ont poursuivi leur tendance contre les Paladins en première période en marquant en avantage numerique. Noah McMullin a donné les devants à Ontario Tech en situation de nurnombre, exposnt les difficultés du CMR à court d'un homme depuis le début de la saison.
Joey May a démarré un deuxième match de suite pour le CMR. Il été le plus occupé des deux gardiens dans ce match en realisant 28 arrêts, notamment quelques-uns assez spectaculaires.
Une deuxième période sans but n'a pas été sans offrir de spectacle, notamment quand 20 minutes de pénalité ont été décernées sur une seule séquence, à la suite d'un plaquage de
Noah Rowe en zone défensive. Rowe a écopé d'une punition mineure et d'une inconsuire de 10 minutes pour un coup à la tête, puis la mêlée qui a suivie aura servie à peupler les bancs ds punition de chaque côté. Tous les joueurs sont quand même restés dans le match.
Après six minutes de jeu en troisième, Sean Ross a doublé l'avance des Ridgebacks. Son coéquipier d'Ontario Tech Matthew Barron a ensuite porté la marque à 3-0 à mi-chemin dans la période.
Tyson McConnell a marqué le dernier but alors qu'il ne restait que 20 secondes au cadran.
Le dernier match des Paladins en 2021 sera présenté samedi à Kingston quand le CMR accueuillera Nipissing à 14h00.
