The Paladins got their first win of the 2022 season with a 3-0 shutout of the visiting Trent Excalibur on Sunday (Oct. 9) afternoon. The win is the team's first since September 9, 2018 when they defeated the UOIT Ridgebacks, 2-1.
David Seo scored the first goal of his RMC and OUA career, putting the Paladins ahead in the 22nd minute. The rookie scored after a header from Henry Gagnon led to a big rebound that RMC took advantage of. Henry Gagnon scored his fourth goal of the season in the 31st minute and celebrated in style, doing a backflip after the score.
In the second half, the Excalibur kept pressuring the Paladins but the defence held strong. Charbel Haddad added a third goal in the 66th minute to add to the Paladins lead. RMC held on despite eight shots on goal from the Excalibur.
First-year goaltender Colin Burns earned the first clean sheet of his career, making 10 saves in the shutout victory.
The Paladins got contributions from up and down the bench as David Hong, Glody Twagira, Patrick Holmes and Reon Ji all made appearances in the match.
The team is back at Navy Bay Field on Wednesday, October 12 to take on the Queen's Gaels in a crosstown showdown. Kick-off is at 4 p.m.

David Seo a marqué son premier but en carrière au CMR et dans le circuit des SUO, donnant les devants aux Paladins à la 22e minute. Le joueur recrue a marqué à la suite d'un coup de tête de Henry Gagnon qui a provoqué un revirement qui a profité au CMR. Gagnon a ensuite marqué son quatrième but de la saison à la 31e minute, célébrant avec style, effectuant un saut périlleux arrière.
En deuxième demie, l'Excalibur a maintenu la pression, mais la défensive des Paladins a tenu bon. Charbel Haddad a ajouté un troisième but à la 66e minute pour ajouter à l'avance des Paladins. Le CMR a tenu le coup malgré les huit tirs au but de l'Excalibur.
Le gardien de première année Colin Burns a signé son premier jeu blanc en carrière, réalisant 10 arrêts dans la victoire.
Les Paladins ont aussi profité de la contribution de leurs substituts David Hong, Glody Twagira, Patrick Holmes et Reon Ji ont tous fait une apparition dans le match.
L'équipe sera de retour sur le terrain Navy Bay, le mercredi 12 octobre, les Gaels de Queen's dans un duel de voisins. Le coup d'envoi sera donné sur le coup de 16 h.
