The RMC Paladins forced a fourth set in Peterborough on Sunday afternoon, but were unable to complete the comeback against the Trent Excalibur, dropping a close match 3-1: 25-20, 27-25, 22-25, 25-18.
Emma Titley started the match with some strong play, including an early run of serves and a few impressive kills. Titley ended the match with six kills, two aces, and several blocks.
Trailing 16-15 at the technical timeout, RMC kept pace with Trent until the Excalibur pulled away after hitting the 20 point mark.
Early in the second set, the Paladins opened up two separate five-point leads, but Trent clawed their way back into the game both times, as the RMC lead was cut to 16-15 at the technical timeout. The set remained close until the very end, when
Taryn Bender, who ended the match with eight kills, gave the Paladins their first set point at 24-23.
After the Excalibur came back to win the second set 27-25, the third set started just as highly contested, with multiple extended rallies, one of which ended with a kill from Bender at an impossible angle.
The Paladins once again held a 16-15 lead at the technical timeout, but this time were able to maintain and build that lead down the stretch, pushing the game to a fourth set with a 25-22 victory.
The only set not to hit the technical timeout with one point separating the two teams, the Excalibur were ahead 16-14 at the break in the fourth. RMC was unable to get back into the game, as the home crowd cheered Trent on to victory.

The Paladins are back in action next weekend with a single game against Nipissing in Kingston. The game will be streamed live on OUA.tv.

La quatrième manche a été la seule ou l'écart entre les deux équipes étaient de plus d'un point au temps d'arrêt technique, l'Excalibur menant alors 16-14. Le CMR n'a pas été en mesure de revenir au pointage alors que la foule locale a encouragé les siennes vers la victoire.
