Saturday's matchup in Toronto between the RMC Paladins and the Rams determined the host for the upcoming playoff game. With the loss (25-22, 25-18, 25-15), RMC finishes the year with four wins to the Rams five, giving the team from Toronto home court advantage in the first round of the OUA playoffs.
RMC's four wins this year are the most they've had since joining the OUA.
The 2021-22 season marks the first time the Paladins have made the playoffs since joining the OUA. After playing in the post-season three of their final four years in the OCAA, RMC joined the university ranks for the 2004-05 season, and have endured a playoff drought from then until today.
Three points was the largest margin in a very close opening set, but it was always the Rams who managed to lead.
In the second and third sets, the Rams got the technical timeout ahead 16-11, and managed to build on that lead down the stretch, despite the Paladins best efforts.

Jonathan Barton teamed up the most offensively on Saturday, while libero
Patrick Hassan was solid on defence.
RMC will be out for revenge on Wednesday when they return to Toronto, looking to win their first playoff game and move on to the second round. The game time is still to be determined, but it will be available to watch on OUA.tv.

La saison 2021-2022 marque aussi la première fois que les Paladins participeront aux éliminatoires de SUO depuis leur accession au circuit. Ayant disputé les éliminatoires trois fois au cours de leurs quatre dernières années au sein de l'ASCO, le CMR a rejoint les rangs universitaires pour la saison 2004-2005, et a été écarté d'une participation au tournoi éliminatoire de fin de saison jusqu'à cette année.
L'écart le plus imposant d'une première manche âprement disputée a été de trois points, mais les Rams ont toujours été aux commandes.
En deuxième et troisième manche, les Rams menaient chaque fois 16-11 au temps d'arrêt technique et ont réussi à bâtir sur cette avance malgré les meilleurs efforts des Paladins.
