Following five days off the court, the RMC Paladins returned to action Friday evening as they played host to the Waterloo Warriors. Although coming out strong to start the first and second sets, the Paladins were unable to sustain momentum, falling to the Warriors in three (18-25, 17-25, 10-25).
The Paladins began the match going back and forth with the visitors. Not allowing Waterloo to take much of a lead, it was RMC who was up for much of the first half of the set. However, a couple of runs in favour of Waterloo in the middle stages of the set would propel the past the Paladins in the first 25-18.
The second set played out quite similar to the first one. Again, it was RMC that was able to gain some control in the beginning, but the relentless of Waterloo would eventually earn them a lead midway through the set. Then the Warriors would once again go on to put the set away, this time by a score of 25-17.
In the match's final set, RMC was unable to get anything going in their favour. Seemingly finding themselves chasing for much of the set, the Paladins ultimately fell 25-10, dropping the contest in straight sets.
Leading the Paladins in kills was Maciej Terezko with seven.
Andrew Gallant had a team-high 16 assists, while
David Feher led the team in digs with three.
The Paladins will quickly return to play against the Warriors. The two teams will once again do battle from the SAM Gym tomorrow (Dec. 2). First serve is set for 1400.
Après cinq jours de congé, les Paladins du CMR étaient de retour au jeu vendredi soir à l'occasion de la visite des Warriors de Waterloo. Après avoir démarré les deux premières manches avec aplomb, les Paladins n'ont pas été en mesure de garder le rythme, s'inclinant en trois manches aux mains des Warriors (18-25, 17-25 et 10-25).
Les Paladins ont échangé les points avec leurs adversaires en première manche. Ne laissant pas les visiteurs trop s'enfuir, le CMR a mené pour la majeure partie de la première manche. Toutefois, une série de points de Waterloo à mi-chemin dans la manche a propulsé les visiteurs vers une victoire de 25-18.
La deuxième manche a été disputée à l'image de la première. Une fois de plus, le CMR a pris le contrôle au départ, mais Waterloo a vu ses efforts récompensés à mi-chemin dans la manche pour s'échapper une fois de plus vers la victoire par la marque de 25-17.
À la dernière manche, le CMR a été incapable de faire tourner le vent. En retard d'un bout à l'autre de la manche, les Paladins se sont finalement inclinés 25-10 pour subir un revers en trois manches.
Maciej Terezko a mené les locaux avec sept attaques marquantes.
Andrew Gallants a dominé les siens avec 16 passes et
David Feher a réalisé trois récupérations.
Les Paladins seront rapidement de retour au jeu pour affronter les Warriors puisque les deux équipes ont à nouveau rendez-vous sur les planches du SAM Gym samedi (2 décembre) à compter de 14 h.
