Finishing off a two-game weekend set with the Waterloo Warriors, the RMC Paladins once again returned to the court at the SAM Gym on Saturday afternoon. Although competitive throughout the match, the Paladins were unable to get the better of Waterloo, falling 3-0 (19-25, 24-26, 17-25).
Looking to bounce back from their defeat last night, RMC showed plenty of energy early in the contest. Using their scrappy defence and some well-timed kills, the Paladins kept pace with Waterloo for much of the set. With neither side creating much breathing room through the first half of the set, it was the Warriors in the end who would pull away in the latter half, taking the set 25-19.
Without a doubt, the second set of the match would wind up being the most entertaining set of the contest. With any type of lead hard to come by for either side, the result of side remained up in the air until the final point. Nearing the end, it looked as if Waterloo was starting to distance themselves, holding a 19-16 lead. However, the fight of the Paladins came through, battling their way back. Facing set point, with the Warriors up 24-23, RMC used their desire and strong defence to win a lengthy rally. Unfortunately though, despite the heroic point, Waterloo would go on to win the next two rallies and take the set 26-24.
Having to try and battle back from two sets down, the Paladins fell behind early in the third and were never fully able to recover. Waterloo would go on to take a 16-11 lead, before extending it to 20-13. The Paladins would go on to make a push to try and force a fourth set, but the Warriors held them off, winning 25-17.
Both Maciej Terezko and
Cameron Moar had strong games offensively for RMC finishing the contest with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Paladin's setter,
Andrew Gallant led the team in assists with 23, while Terezko, Moar and Gallant each tied with a team-high four digs.
RMC will now head into the December break. The Paladins will return to OUA action on January 6
th when they visit the Brock Badgers. RMC will next be at home on January 12
th against the Guelph Gryphons.

Grâce à une défensive qui ne lâche jamais et à des attaques opportunes, les Paladins ont maintenu le rythme avec Waterloo pour la majeure partie de la manche. Ni une ni l'autre des formations n'a pu s'échapper avant la toute fin de la manche, ce que Waterloo a fait pour l'emporter 25-19.
Sans l'ombre d'un doute, la deuxième manche a été la plus divertissante de cette rencontre. Sans que les équipes parviennent à creuser un écart, le résultat de cette manche a été incertain jusqu'au dernier point. Waterloo avait d'abord semblé vouloir mettre fin à la manche en prenant les devants 19-16, mais les Paladins ont remonté la pente pour réduire l'écart à un seul point (24-23). Faisant preuve de désir et grâce à une solide défensive, le CMR a remporté un long échange. Malheureusement et malgré ce point héroïque, Waterloo a remporté les deux échanges suivants en route vers un gain de 26-24.
En retard de deux manches, les Paladins ont rapidement tiré de l'arrière en troisième manche et ils n'ont pas su se relever. Waterloo a pris les devants 16-11, puis 20-13 avant que les Paladins y aient d'un dernier effort pour forcer la quatrième manche, mais les visiteurs avaient d'autres plans, l'emportant 25-17.
Maciej Terezko et
Cameron Moar ont connu une grosse sortie à l'attaque pour le CMR, concluant le match avec 12 et 11 attaques marquantes respectivement.
Passeur des Paladins, Andrew Setter a mené les siens avec 23 passes, tandis que Moar et Gallant étaient à égalité avec quatre récupérations chacun.
Le CMR profitera maintenant de la pause du mois de décembre et reviendra au jeu le 6 janvier en rendant visite aux Badgers de Brock. Le CMR sera de retour à la maison le 12 janvier contre les Gryphons de Guelph.
