Returning home to Constantine Arena Friday night, the RMC Paladins were back in action as they welcomed the Laurier Golden Hawks to Kingston. Playing their first of two games in as many days, the Paladins kept the Hawks close for much of the contest, but were unable to get the best of the visitors, falling 5-1.
With a boisterous crowd behind them, the Paladins came out with plenty of energy from the opening whistle. Generating plenty of chances, RMC kept much of the play in the Laurier end. However, despite registering 15 shots in the opening frame, they were unable to find the back of the net. Instead, it was Laurier scoring the only goal of the opening period on a short-handed breakaway.
Early in the second period, the Golden Hawks were able to add to their lead, scoring just shy of the five-minute mark. Stuck by two goals, the Paladins continued to push. Nearing the midway point of the frame, RMC would get rewarded for their efforts. Crashing towards the net, fourth-year forward
Brent Broaders found a loose puck and made no mistake in tight. However, the Laurier lead would quickly get extended back to two just over three minutes later.
Unfortunately for RMC, Laurier was able to extend their lead to three just over a minute into the final period. The Paladins did their best to fight back despite the deficit, but were unable to further capitalize on any chances. The Golden Hawks would add an empty-net goal to round out the scoring.

Michael Davis made 26 saves in the loss.
Noah Matulu and
Fischer O'Brien would each pick up an assist.
RMC will now hit the road as they head to Oshawa to take on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on October 19.
De retour sur la patinoire de l'Aréna Constantine vendredi soir, les Paladins du CMR étaient de retour en action pour accueillir les Golden Hawks de Laurier à Kingston. Disputant la première de deux rencontres en deux jours, les Paladins ont rivalisé avec les Hawks pour la majeure partie de la rencontre, mais se sont inclinés par la marque de 5 à 1.
Encouragés par une foule bruyante, les Paladins ont démarré cette rencontre avec force dès le coup de sifflet initial. Générant de nombreuses occasions, le CMR a maintenu la rondelle dans le territoire de Laurier. Malgré leurs 15 tirs dans la période initiale, les locaux n'ont pas été en mesure d'ouvrir la marque. C'est plutôt Laurier qui a inscrit le seul but du premier vingt, sur une échappée en désavantage numérique.
Tôt en deuxième période, les Golden Hawks ont pu ajouter à leur avance, marquant dans la cinquième minute de l'engagement. En retard par deux buts, les Paladins ont continué à appliquer de la pression et ils ont été récompensés pour leurs efforts à mi-chemin dans la rencontre. Brent Broaders a saisi un disque libre et a fait mouche à courte distance. Laurier a cependant trouvé le moyen de se redonner un coussin de deux buts un peu moins de trois minutes plus tard.
Malheureusement pour le CMR, Laurier a prolongé son avance à trois buts dans la première minute de la troisième période. Les Paladins ont fait de leur mieux pour remonter la pente, mais ils n'ont pas su profiter de leurs occasions. Les Golden Hawks ont ajouté un but dans le filet désert pour compléter la marque.
Michael Davis a réalisé 26 arrêts devant le filet des Paladins dans la défaite.

Les joueurs du CMR seront à nouveau en action le samedi 19 octobre alors qu'ils rendront visite aux Ridgebacks d'Ontario Tech à Oshawa.
