Coming off a tough loss to the No. 7 McGill Redman about 16 hours prior, the RMC Paladins returned to the ice for another tough test, taking on the No. 4 Concordia Stingers. Although RMC was able to keep Concordia off the board for nearly the first half of the game, they were unable to fully fend off the Stingers attack in a 5-2 loss.
Having faced 55 shots the night before,
Michael Davis returned to the crease on Saturday for RMC, and was able to turn away all of Concordia's 21 first period shots. Unable to score themselves though, the Paladins wound up tied 0-0 at the first intermission.
Continuing to give everything, nearly kept the Stingers off the board as the midway point of the second period approached. However, a little over seven minutes into the frame, Concordia would breakthrough. The Stingers would then add two more goals as the period continued. Looking to get back in the contest, the Paladins would get themselves on the scoreboard in the final minute of the second when
Devin Pimm fired home his first goal of the season.
Trying to keep up with the homeside in the final twenty, RMC had a tough time matching the Stingers early in the frame. Two quick goals for Concordia extended the lead to 5-1. Not going away, the Paladins would net a second goal thanks to
Devin Leduc, but that would be as close as they would get.
Davis would go on to face 55 shots again on Saturday, making 50 saves.
Joel Holtrop had a pair of assists for RMC while
Bruce Coltart and
Nathan Fox each had an assist each.
Next up for the Paladins will be a trip to North Bay on November 1 when they pay a visit to the Nipissing Lakers.
