Making the trip northwest for a Friday night contest in North Bay, the RMC Paladins resumed their season against the Nipissing Lakers. Trying to end their recent losing skid, the Paladins battled but ultimately fell 3-2 in a shootout to the Lakers.
Although Nipissing got on the board right away, scoring just over a minute into the game, it did not faze the Paladins at all. Holding Nipissing to the one goal, RMC was able to capitalize on a chance of their own when Mathieu Hébert's point shot found its way through to even the score 1-1.
Still tied midway through the second period, the Lakers would regain the lead converting on a power-play opportunity. Again though, RMC would battle back, and again, it would be Hébert. With time winding down in the middle frame, the fourth-year defenceman fired another shot through traffic with eight seconds left to tie the game 2-2.
During the final period of regulation, there were chances to be had for both sides, but neither was able to jump out in front.
As the buzzer sounded, the Paladins turned their attention to their first overtime contest of the season. In the extra session, RMC would earn late power-play. Playing four-on-three, the Paladins would come close on a couple of occasions, but were not able to net the game-winner. Instead, the contest went to a shoot-out, where TMU would go one for two, with all three of RMC's shooters unable to score.

Michael Davis turned in a remarkable performance, making 43 saves over 67 minutes of play.

Nathan Fox would each register an assist.
The Paladins will now have the rest of the weekend off before returning to action on November 8 when they host the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
En déplacement dans le nord-ouest de l'Ontario vendredi soir, les Paladins du CMR ont relancé leur saison en rendant visite aux Lakers de Nipissing à North Bay. Tentant de mettre fin à une récente séquence de défaites, les Paladins ont bien lutté avant de s'incliner 3-2 en fusillade.
Même si Nipissing a été le premier à s'inscrire à la marque après un peu plus d'une minute de jeu, les Paladins n'ont pas été paralysés par ce retard hâtif. Limitant l'avance de Nipissing à un but, le CMR a su profiter de ses occasions quand le tir de la pointe de Mathieu Hébert s'est frayé un chemin jusqu'au fond du filet pour créer l'égalité.
Toujours à égalité à mi-chemin en deuxième période, les Lakers ont repris les devants sur un jeu de puissance. Encore une fois, le CMR a répliqué grâce au deuxième but du match de Hébert. Alors qu'il ne restait que huit secondes à jouer à la deuxième période, le défenseur de quatrième année a laissé partir la rondelle sur un tir à travers l'enclave achalandée pour porter la marque à 2-2.
Les deux équipes ont cherché à trancher le débat en troisième période et en prolongation, mais cela en vain.
Alors que la sirène a annoncé la fin de la troisième période, les Paladins ont démarré leur première prolongation de la saison. Les visiteurs sont passés près à quelques occasions de mettre fin au match, mais la fusillade était au menu de cette rencontre. Les Lakers ont marqué une fois sur deux tirs alors que les trois tireurs du CMR ont été frustrés dans leurs tentatives.
Michael Davis a offert une prestation magistrale devant la cage du CMR, repoussant 43 tirs en 67 minutes de jeu.
