Taking to the pitch for the first of two games this weekend, the RMC Paladins welcomed the Nipissing Lakers to Navy Bay Field Saturday afternoon. Playing the Lakers for the second time in a week, RMC was unable to get the better of Nipissing, falling 3-0.
Playing solid defence to begin the match, the Paladins were able to keep Nipissing off the board for much of the opening half. However, in the 35
th minute the Lakers would breakthrough, beating Paladin's keeper
Finn Gregoire, who was making his return to action.
With the score still 1-0 at the half, Nipissing was able to quickly extend their advantage as the second half got underway, scoring their second goal in the 48
th minute.
The Lakers would then go on to put the contest out of reach in the 61
st minute with a third marker.
On the statsheet, Gregoire would make two saves for RMC, while
Chris Knock would register two shots.
Charbel Haddad and
Daniel Jung would also each register one shot.
The Paladins will now turn their focus to the TMU Bold who they will host on October. 6 for Senior's Day. The match is scheduled for 1515hrs.
Se retrouvant sur le terrain pour le premier de deux matchs à l'horaire ce weekend, les Paladins du CMR ont reçu les Lakers de Nipissing au Terrain Navy Bay, samedi après-midi. Affrontant les Lakers pour la deuxième fois en une semaine, le CMR n'a pas réussi à avoir le dessus sur Nipissing, s'inclinant 3-0.
Solides en défensive en début de rencontre, les Paladins ont été en mesure d'empêcher Nipissing de s'inscrire au pointage pendant une bonne partie de la première mi-temps. Les Lakers ont toutefois réussi à trouver l'ouverture à la 35e minute de jeu, alors qu'ils ont eu raison du gardien de but des Paladins Finn Gregoire, qui était de retour au jeu.
Le score étant toujours de 1-0 après une mi-temps, Nipissing a vite trouvé le moyen d'accroître son avance au moment où la deuxième mi-temps s'est mise en branle, inscrivant son deuxième but de l'affrontement à la 48e minute.
Les Lakers ont ensuite mis le match hors de portée du CMR en trouvant le fond du filet une troisième fois à la 61e minute.
Au chapitre des statistiques, Gregoire a réalisé deux arrêts pour le CMR, tandis que Chris Knock a décoché deux tirs au but. Charbel Haddad et Daniel Jung ont enregistré un tir au but chacun.
Les Paladins tourneront maintenant leur attention vers le Bold de TMU, qu'ils recevront le 6 octobre à l'occasion d'une journée où les finissants seront à l'honneur. Le match commencera à 15h15.
