Following the suspension of their Friday contest midway through the second period last night against Ottawa, the RMC Paladins were quickly back to work on Saturday as they prepared to host the Carleton Ravens. Trying to snap their recent losing skid, the Paladins were unable to against the Ravens, falling 6-2.
It did not take long once the contest began for the two teams to provide entertainment for the fans inside Constantine Arena. With play going back and forth, both sides were able to create solid chances. Converting first on an opportunity though, would be the visitors, as Carleton took the lead a little under 10 minutes into the game. Throughout much of the remainder of the period, the two sides would continue to battle. However, late in the frame, Carleton made their mark with two goals just 16 seconds apart, all of a sudden taking control of the game.
With momentum on their side, the Ravens continued to attack as the second period got underway. A little over four minutes in, Carleton would extends its lead to 4-0. The Paladins though, would not go quietly. Trying to get back in the game, RMC was able to take advantage on a power-play opportunity when Joel Holtop found a loose puck and buried it to pull the Paladins within three. Striking quickly again, the Ravens spoiled any thoughts of a comeback, reestablishing their four-goal lead less than a minute later. Carleton would go on to tack on one more with one second remaining in the period.
In the third the Paladins would strike for their second goal of the night, thanks to a point-shot off the stick of
Isaac Pascoal, however, that is as close as RMC would get.
In goal for the Paladins,
Michael Davis made 33 saves.
Devin Pimm recorded a pair of assists for RMC, while
Cole Foston and
Dell Welton each had one helper.
Next up for RMC will be the first of four straight road games when they head to Ottawa for another date with Carleton on November 16.
Au lendemain de la rencontre suspendue de vendredi soir en milieu de deuxième période contre Ottawa, les joueurs des Paladins du CMR étaient de retour au boulot samedi face aux Ravens de Carleton à l'Arena Constantin. Tentant de mettre fin à une série de défaites, les Paladins ont été renversés 6-2 par les Ravens.
Le divertissement était au rendez-vous dès le début de cette rencontre pour les partisans présents avec du jeu qui se transportait d'un bout à l'autre de la patinoire alors que les deux équipes ont créé de belles occasions de marquer. Les visiteurs ont été les premiers à s'inscrire à la marque vers la moitié de la première période. Les deux équipes ont continué à déployer leurs efforts sur la patinoire jusqu'à la fin de ce premier engagement, mais Carleton a porté un dur coup aux espoirs des locaux en marquant deux fois en 16 secondes avant le premier entracte, prenant décidément le contrôle de cette rencontre.
Avec le vent dans les voiles, les Ravens ont maintenu la pression offensive en deuxième période. Après seulement quatre minutes de jeu, Carleton a porté la marque à 4-0, mais les Paladins n'avaient toutefois pas dit leur dernier mot. Tentant de remonter la pente, le CMR a profité d'un avantage numérique quand Joel Holtop s'est emparé d'un disque libre et a trouvé le fond du filet pour réduire l'écart à trois buts. Les Ravens ont toutefois rapidement répliqué en rétablissant leur avance de quatre buts moins d'une minute plus tard et ont ajouté un autre but avec une seconde à jouer au deuxième vingt. C'était 6 à 1.
En troisième période, les Paladins ont marqué leur deuxième but du match grâce au tir de la pointe d'
Isaac Pascoal. Ce fut toutefois là le dernier but de la rencontre.
Michael Davis a réalisé 33 arrêts devant le filet des Paladins.

Dell Welton ont aussi récolté une mention d'aide chacun.
Le CMR entreprendra une séquence de quatre matchs sur la route samedi prochain alors qu'ils rendront la politesse aux Gee-Gees à Ottawa.
