Coming off a home contest against the Carleton Ravens last weekend, the RMC Paladins once again met up with the Ravens on Saturday, this time in Ottawa. Despite a strong defensive showing from the Paladins, they were unable to generate enough offence at the Carleton Ice House, losing 4-2.
Although on the road, the Paladins were able to come out of the gates matching Carleton's intensity. With both sides starting to generate shots and chances it was the home team, who would convert first. Just shy of the midway point of the frame, a Carleton point-shot deflected past Paladin's goalie
Michael Davis to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead. Even though there were 24 shots in the period, 10 by RMC, only the one goal was scored prior to the intermission.
As the Paladins pursued the equalizer in the second period, shots became a little harder to come by. With both teams locking down defensively, neither side was able to find the back of the net during the period. Carleton would narrowly outshoot RMC in the period eight to seven.
Trailing by just one with one period to go, the Paladins quickly saw their deficit expand to two. Not even a minute into the frame, Carleton was able to double their lead and create a little bit of breathing room. After Carleton found the back of the net once more, creating a three-goal lead, the Paladins were able to respond when
Bruce Coltart deflected a perfect pass from
Dylan Wells, pulling RMC back within two.
In the final minute, the Paladins pulled Davis for the extra-attacker. However, Carleton was able to score on the empty-net to go up 4-1. The Paladins would quickly bounce back 17-seconds later on a goal from Joel Holtop, but that was as close as the Paladins would get.
In goal for RMC, Davis made 33 saves. Wells, along with
Isaac Pascoal,
Dell Welton and
Brock McNaughton each drew an assist.
Looking to get back into the win column, the Paladins will resume their four-game road trip when they visit the Queen's Gaels on November 20. Puck drop is set for 1930hrs.

Dylan Wells, habilement déviée par
Bruce Coltart, réduisant l'écart à deux buts.
Dans la dernière minute, les Paladins ont retiré David pour un attaquant additionnel. Cependant, Carleton a marqué dans un filet désert pour porter le pointage à 4-1. Les Paladins ont rapidement répondu 17 secondes plus tard sur un but de Joel Holtop, mais ce fut là le dernier but de la rencontre.
Davis a réalisé 33 arrêts devant le filet du CMR. Wells, ainsi qu'
Isaac Pascoal,
Dell Welton et
Brock McNaughton ont chacun amassé une mention d'aide.
Les Paladins chercheront maintenant à retrouver le sentier de la victoire en rendant visite à leurs voisins des Gaels de Queen's le mercredi 20 novembre à 19 h 30.
