Down three goals in the opening period of play Wednesday night at the Memorial Centre, the RMC Paladins showed plenty of resolve, battling back to erase the deficit. However, despite their efforts, the Paladins were unable to get the better of the Gaels, falling 6-3 after a third period Queen's surge.

Making the short trip across the Cataraqui River, RMC hit the ice looking to put an end to their recent losing streak. Early on though, it was Queen's putting the pressure on the Paladins. After opening the scoring a little less than five minutes into the contest, the Gaels quickly added to their lead at the midway point of the period with two goals a minute and half a part. Determined to get back into the contest, RMC was able to trim the lead just prior to the intermission. With 29-seconds to go in the frame, Fischer O'Brien deflected home his fourth goal of the season, giving RMC a boost heading into the second.

Carrying over the momentum from the O'Brien goal, the Paladins made their mark in the middle frame. After Devin Pimm fired home a point-shot on the power-play to pull RMC within one, RMC tied the contest up at three with a goal from team captain, Brock McNaughton. Going on to outshoot Queen's 13-9 in the period, the Paladins would head to the third period all square with the Gaels.

Starting the third, both sides created chances. Just over five minutes into the period it would be the Gaels who would retake the lead. A little over three minutes later, Queen's would strike again to go up by two. Although the Paladins pushed to get back into the contest once again, they were unable to draw any closer. Instead, the Gaels would seal the game with a sixth goal in the final minutes.

In goal for RMC, Michael Davis made 30 saves. O'Brien, Ryan Smith, Nathan Fox and Devin Leduc would each pick up one assist in the game.

Looking to get back into the win column, the Paladins will head to London on Saturday for an afternoon match with the Western Mustangs.

Après avoir comblé un retard de trois buts en première période du match de mercredi soir au Centre Memorial, les Paladins du CMR ont vu leur de grands efforts être renversés par les Gaels, qui ont explosé en troisième période avec trois autres buts sans réplique pour l'emporter 6-3.
 
Après avoir traversé la rivière Cataraqui pour affronter leurs voisins, les joueurs du CMR ont sauté sur la patinoire avec l'intention de mettre fin à leur série de défaites. C'est toutefois Queen's qui a mis de la pression sur les Paladins en début de rencontre. Après avoir ouvert la marque après un peu moins de cinq minutes d'écoulés dans la rencontre, les Gaels ont rapidement accru leur avance à mi-chemin dans la période grâce à une paire de but à 1:30 minute d'écart. Déterminés à revenir dans le match, le CMR a été en mesure de réduire son retard tout juste avant le premier entracte. Avec 29 secondes à écouler au premier vingt, Fischer O'Brien a fait dévier la rondelle dans le filet pour son quatrième de la saison, donnant un petit remontant au CMR avant la deuxième période.
 
Portés par le but d'O'Brien, les Paladins ont ressurgi en deuxième période. Après que Devin Pimm a marqué en avantage numérique sur un tir de la pointe sur l'attaque à cinq pour réduire l'écart à un seul but, le CMR a créé l'égalité 3-3 sur un but du capitaine Brock McNaughton. Dominant Queen's 13-9 au chapitre des tirs en deuxième, les compteurs ont été remis à zéro avec 20 minutes à jouer.
 
Les deux équipes ont obtenu des occasions de marquer en début de troisième période, les Gaels ont repris les devants après cinq minutes de jeu, puis trois minutes plus tard, Queen's a repris deux buts d'avance.  Bien que les Paladins ont déployé de gros efforts pour revenir dans le match, ils n'ont pas été en mesure d'inscrire un autre but. C'est plutôt les Gaels qui ont scellé l'issue de la rencontre en marquant un sixième but dans la dernière minute de jeu.
 
Devant le filet du CMR, Michael Davis a amassé 30 arrêts. O'Brien, Ryan Smith, Nathan Fox et Devin Leduc ont chacun amassé une passe.
 
Les Paladins chercheront à retrouver le chemin de la victoire samedi après-midi en rendant visite aux Mustangs de Western à London.
