Heading into their final weekend of play prior to the Fall exam break, the RMC Paladins paid a visit to the Western Mustangs on Friday. Looking to get themselves into the win column, the Paladins put forth a strong effort, but were unable to solve Western, losing 3-0 (14-25, 16-25, 16-25).
As the match got underway, the Paladins found themselves falling behind early against Western, with the Mustangs taking a 12-6 lead. Further building on that advantage, Western extended their lead to 23-13, before finishing off the set 25-14.
In the second, RMC was able to keep up throughout the opening portion of the set. Holding an early 5-4 lead, the Paladins would later found themselves down by one at 10-9. At that point though, Western found their groove. Winning 10 of the next 14 points, the Mustangs quickly established a 20-13 lead, which they would not relinquish, defeating RMC in the second set 25-16.
The third set would play out quite similarly to the second. With RMC keeping pace early and trailing by just two and 8-6, the Paladins were fully in the set. Again though, the Mustangs would build momentum and go on a run winning seven straight points to go up 15-6. Unable to overcome the deficit, the Paladins would ultimately fall 25-16 in the set.
Tommy Roussel once again led the team in kills on Friday night with 11.
Andrew Gallant had a team-high 16 assists, while
Maciej Tereszko led RMC in digs with eight.
The Paladins will conclude the 2024 portion of their schedule on November 30 when they once again battle the Mustangs in London.

Les Paladins ont dû jouer du volleyball de rattrapage dès les premiers échanges, tirant de l'arrière 12-6 en première manche. Western a remporté 13 des 21 échanges suivants pour mener 23-13, avant de l'emporter 25-14.
En deuxième manche, le CMR a pu tenir le cap et même prendre les devants 5-4 pour plus tard n'accuser qu'un point de retard alors que la marque était de 10-9 pour les Mustangs. C'est à partir de ce moment que les hôtes ont creusé l'écart en remportant 10 des 14 échanges suivants pour mener 20-14 en route vers un gain de 25-16.
La troisième manche a été disputé à l'image de la deuxième alors que le CMR a rivalisé avec Western en début de manche, tirant de l'arrière 8-6. Encore une fois, les Mustangs ont mis le pied sur l'accélérateur à ce moment, remportant sept échanges de suite pour mener 15-6 pour ensuite se partager les 20 échanges suivants pour l'emporter 25-16.
Tommy Roussel a une fois de plus dominé les Paladins avec 11 attaques marquantes vendredi soir.
Andrew Gallant a ajouté 16 passes et
Maciej Tereszko a mené le CMR avec huit récupérations.
Les Paladins termineront la portion 2024 de leur calendrier, le samedi 30 novembre contre ces mêmes Mustangs à London.
