Heading out for a weekend trip to Windsor, the RMC Paladins resumed their season Friday night against one of the top teams in the country. Going up against the No. 4 nationally ranked Windsor Lancers, the Paladins did everything they could to challenge the Lancers but did not have enough in the tank, losing 3-0 (14-25, 20-25, 16-25).
Hanging with the Lancers early on, the Paladins were able to stay within a couple of points, as the opening set got underway. With Windsor up 8-6 though, the Lancers began to make their move. Winning 12 of the next 16 points, Windsor was able to take full control of the set, and ultimately win it, 25-14.
Looking to even the match at a set a piece, the Paladins proved to be a tough challenge all through the second set. Despite falling behind initially 11-5, RMC went on to win eight of the next nine points, taking a 13-12 advantage. The Lancers would manage to return the favour though, going on a six to one run while establishing a 19-15 lead. Although the Paladins would push, they were unable to make up the deficit and would lose the second set 25-20.
In what would be the final set, Windsor was able to take a lead early on and slowly build it up throughout the set. Leading 12-7, the Lancers would eventually push it to 22-15, before finishing off the set 25-16.
Continuing his impressive first year with the Paladins,
Tommy Roussel led the team in kills with 17. Meanwhile,
Andrew Gallant would go on to lead the team in assists (24) and digs (5).
The Paladins will look to bounce back on January 25 when they play the back half of their weekend doubleheader with Windsor.

Face aux Lancers de Windsor, quatrième équipe au pays, les Paladins ont fait ce qu'ils ont pu pour défier les Lancers, mais ils ont manqué de carburant, s'inclinant 3-0 (14-25, 20-25 et 16-25).
Tenant la route avec les Lancers en début de rencontre, les Paladins étaient dans le coup, tirant de l'arrière 8-6. Les Lancers se sont ensuite échappés, remportant 12 des 16 points suivants. Windsor a été en mesure de prendre contrôle de la manche pour ultimement l'emporter 25-14.
Cherchant à se relever en deuxième manche, les Paladins avaient du pain sur la planche, accusant un retard de 11-5. Le CMR a quand même remporté huit des neuf points suivants pour prendre les devants 13-12. Les Lancers leur ont remis la faveur en inscrivant six points de suite pour prendre les devants 19-15. Bien que les Paladins aient répliqué, ils n'ont pas été en mesure de combler l'écart et se sont inclinés 25-20.
Dans ce qui a été la dernière manche, Windsor a pris les devants tôt pour ensuite bâtir lentement et sûrement tout au long de la manche. En avant 12-7, les Lancers ont remporté 10 des 18 points suivants pour mener 22-15 avant de conclure la rencontre sur une marque de 25-16.
Poursuivant son impressionnante première saison chez les Paladins,
Tommy Roussel a mené sa troupe avec 17 attaques marquantes.
Andrew Gallant a pour sa part été le meilleur des siens avec 24 passes et cinq récupérations.
Les Paladins chercheront à rebondir le samedi 25 janvier en disputant le deuxième match de leur programme double du weekend contre Windsor.
