Led by their freshman class, the RMC Paladins skated to their first win of the 2025-26 season Friday night at Constantine Arena. Getting goals from three different first-years, and 46 saves from their freshman netminder, the Paladins went on to defeat the visiting Carleton Ravens 5-3.
The game did not start the way RMC wanted, however. Giving up a short-handed goal midway through the opening frame, the Paladins found themselves trailing by one. Fortunately, for RMC, it did not take long to equalize as the Paladin would score on that same power-play with
Cole Foston scoring his first goal of the season. Continue with the special teams theme, the Paladins were return to the power-play just a few minutes later where
Kilian McGregor-Bennett's first RMC goal gave the home team a 2-1 advantage.
Still up by goal heading into the second, the RMC lead quickly disappeared as the period got underway. Not even two minutes into the frame, the Ravens were able to net the equalizer. Continuing to respond though, RMC did just that. After leading the Paladins in goals last season, second-year forward,
Fischer O'Brien netted his first goal of the campaign to restore the RMC lead. After Carleton once again tied the score, the Paladins regained their advantage late in the frame when
Brayden Knox scored his first career RMC goal.
For the first time all night, the Paladins were able to extend their lead to two in the third period. Just beyond the midway point, rookie forward
Connor Prestwich scored his second goal as a Paladin to give RMC some breathing room. Backstopped by
Ethan Morrow, who stopped 46 of 49 shots, RMC was able to hold on for a 5-3 victory.
Looking to make it two wins in row, RMC will quickly return to action tomorrow (11 October) afternoon when they visit the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.

Cole Foston a inscrit son premier but de la saison pour créer l'égalité. Quelques minutes plus tard, les Paladins se sont à nouveau retrouvés à cinq contre quatre et
Kilian McGregor-Bennett a marqué son premier but avec le CMR pour donner les devants 2-1 aux siens.
Toujours en avant par un but en deuxième période, le CMR a rapidement vu son avance disparaître dès les premières secondes de l'engagement. Les Ravens ont créé l'égalité à 1:53. Le CMR sera de retour au jeu le samedi 11 octobre en après-midi pour tenter de remporter un deuxième match de suite alors que les Paladins rendront visite aux Ridgebacks d'Ontario Tech.
