Fresh off their first win of the season less than 24-hours ago, the RMC Paladins hit the road for the first time this season. Heading west along the 401, the Paladins travelled to Oshawa, where they suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
Despite the final score, it was the Paladins getting off to a strong start. Getting an early power-play opportunity, RMC quickly capitalized as
Fischer O'Brien snapped home his second goal in as many days.
However, Ontario Tech would respond with a pair of goal before the opening frame expired, giving the Ridgebacks a 2-1 lead at the intermission.
Down by a goal, the Paladins ran into penalty trouble in the second period, hindering their ability to find the equalizer. Instead, Ontario Tech would take advantage of one of three power-plays in the frame to up 3-1 after two.
Looking to get back into the contest, RMC tried to make a push in the third period. Again though, a couple of early penalties would mean that had to shift their focus to the defensive end. As the period progressed, the Ridgebacks would begin to pull away, scoring three times to put the game out of reach.
Getting his first start of the season, third-year goalkeeper,
Joe Ingram-Chambers made 43 saves for RMC.
Noah Matulu would draw the lone assist on O'Brien's goal.
Next up for the Paladins, they will head to Montreal on 17 October to take on McGill.
Après avoir signé une première victoire il y a moins de 24 heures, les Paladins du CMR étaient en déplacement pour la première fois dans cette jeune saison. Empruntant la 401 vers l'Ouest jusqu'à Oshawa, les joueurs du CMR ont été battus 5-1 samedi après-midi par les Ridgebacks d'Ontario Tech.
Les Paladins avaient pourtant démarré le match en trombe. Profitant d'une occasion de surnombre tôt dans la rencontre, le CMR a pris les devants quand
Fischer O'Brien a marqué son deuxième but en autant de matchs, cette fois sur un lancer frappé.
Ontario Tech a toutefois répliqué avec deux buts avant la fin de la première période, procurant une avance de 2-1 aux Ridgebacks au premier entracte.
En retard par un but, les Paladins ont péché par indiscipline, devant se défendre souvent à court d'un homme et ralentissant ainsi leurs capacités à revenir au pointage. À la place, c'est plutôt Ontario Tech qui a profité de trois jeux de puissance dans la période pour se donner une priorité de 3-1.
Tentant de revenir dans le match, le CMR a tenté d'y aller d'une poussée en troisième. Cependant, une paire de punitions en début de période les a placées sur les talons. Plus la période progressait, plus les Ridgebacks s'éloignaient de leurs visiteurs, marquant deux fois pour mettre le match hors de portée.

Joe Ingram-Chambers a réalisé 43 arrêts pour le CMR, tandis que
Noah Matulu a obtenu la seule mention d'aide sur le but d'O'Brien.
Les Paladins mettront maintenant le cap vers Montréal pour rendre visite à McGill, le 17 octobre.
