The RMC Paladins got their 2025-26 OUA regular season underway Friday night at Constantine Arena. Facing a tough task to start the year, the Paladins welcomed the defending national champion, Ottawa Gee-Gees to Kingston for their home-opener. Despite their efforts, RMC was unable to get much going against the Gee-Gees, dropping a 5-0 decision.
Ottawa went on the attack early in the contest, scoring four goals in the opening period. The Gee-Gees opened the scoring just under seven minutes into the contest, before tacking on three more in the next seven minutes of play.
Even though they faced a four-goal deficit entering the second period, the Paladins seemed to get have themselves feeling more settled into the game. For most of the middle frame, RMC was able to slow down the Ottawa attack, while also creating some chances of their own. Despite registering nine shots in the period, the Paladins were unable to get on the board. Ottawa would net the only goal of the period, taking a 5-0 lead into the third.
The Paladins continued to try to push back in the final frame and were able to create a couple of high quality chances. However, their best attempts were either went of the post or were met by Ottawa goaltender, Franky Lapenna. In the end, the game would finish 5-0.

Ethan Morrow made 45 saves for RMC.
The Paladins will have a quick turnaround now as they return to Constantine Arena tomorrow (4 October) to take on the Concordia Stingers.

Le test était plutôt ardu en ce début de campagne avec la visite à Kingston des Gee-Gees d'Ottawa, champions canadiens en titre. Malgré leurs efforts, les joueurs du CMR n'ont pas réussi à allumer d'étincelles et se sont inclinés 5-0 aux mains des Gee-Gees.
Ottawa s'est mis au travail tôt dans la rencontre, marquant quatre but en première période. Le premier but des Gee-Gees a été marqué à la septième minute de jeu avant d'en ajouter trois autres dans les sept minutes suivantes.
Bien qu'ils accusaient ce retard de quatre buts en début de deuxième période, les Paladins semblaient plus à l'aise sur la patinoire. Pour la majeure partie de cette période médiane, le CMR a su ralentir l'attaque d'Ottawa, tout en créant des occasions à l'autre bout de la patinoire. Malgré leurs neuf tirs au but, les Paladins n'ont pas su s'inscrire à la marque. Ottawa a ajouté un but à son avance avant la fin du deuxième vingt, portant le pointage à 5-0.
Les Paladins ont continué de déployer des efforts en troisième et ont même créé de belles occasions de marquer. Cependant, la rondelle a frappé le poteau ou a été repoussée par le gardien d'Ottawa Franky Lapenna. Ce match s'est ainsi terminé par la marque de 5-0.
