Looking to bounce back from a tough season opening defeat yesterday, the RMC Paladins returned to the ice at Constantine Arena on Saturday to take on the Concordia Stingers. Putting forth a strong effort, the Paladins went back and forth with Concordia but ultimately dropped a 4-3 decision.
Although Concordia was able to open the scoring just under seven minutes into the contest, the Paladins quickly came up with a response.
Jamming away at a loose puck just past the midway point of the opening frame,
Bradley Blake would knock it home to tie the score. Then late in the period,
William Gallant fired home his first goal of the season, giving RMC their first lead of the day.
Coming out of the intermission, the RMC lead did not last long. Just 39 seconds into the frame, the Stingers would score the equalizer.
Picking themselves back up quickly, first-year forward
Connor Prestwich scored his first career Paladins goal to put RMC back up by one. With just under five minutes to play in the period though, the Stingers would once again tie the score.
The third period featured plenty of chances for both teams, but in the end, it was the visitors who would net the lone goal of the period to come away with a 4-3 win over the Paladins.
RMC will next return to action on October 10 when they play host to the Carleton Ravens.
Cherchant à rebondir à la suite d'un match d'ouverture ardu la veille, les Paladins du CMR étaient de retour sur la patinoire de l'Aréna Constantine samedi avec la visite des Stingers de Concordia. Offrant un solide effort, les Paladins ont rivalisé avec Concordia, mais se sont finalement inclinés 4 à 3.
Bien que Concordia soit parvenu à ouvrir la marque après seulement sept minutes de jeu, les Paladins ont rapidement répliqué.
Profitant d'une rondelle libre à mi-chemin en première période,
Bradley Blake la poussé dans le fond de la cage adverse pour créer l'égalité. En fin de premier engagement,
William Gallant a inscrit son premier but de la saison pour procurer au CMR sa première avance dans le match.
Cette avance a toutefois rapidement disparu en deuxième période alors que les Stingers n'ont mis que 39 secondes pour créer l'égalité.

Les chances étaient abondantes de part et d'autre en troisième période, mais ce sont les visiteurs qui ont eu le dernier mot en marquant l'unique but de la période, en route vers une victoire de 4-3.
Le CMR sera de retour au jeu le vendredi 10 octobre à l'occasion de la visite des Ravens de Carleton.
