Hoping to turn the page on a difficult lost to Nipissing the day prior, the RMC Paladins were back in action Saturday night to take on the Carleton Ravens. Despite leading for much of the game, RMC was not able to hold off a late Carleton surge in a 6-5 defeat.

Although the Ravens were able to open the scoring early on with a powerplay goal, the Paladins controlled much of the play from that point forward. Getting back on even terms, William Gallant scored his second goal of the season just under six minutes into the game to tie the score 1-1.

Still knotted up at one goal apiece entering the middle frame, RMC would take the first lead of the night when Cole Foston fired home his fourth goal of the year. Then just 52 seconds later, Gallant scored his second of the night, extending the RMC lead to two. Late in the period, the Paladins would add another as Liam Serviss scored on a short-handed breakaway, as RMC headed into the intermission with a 4-1 lead.

However, despite trailing by three entering the third, the Ravens quickly were able to get themselves back into the contest. Scoring just over five minutes into the period, Carleton was able to pull within two. Not fazed though, RMC answered only 48 second after to regain the three-goal advantage, thanks to Foston's second goal of night. With 12:08 to play though, RMC found themselves having to kill off a five-minute major penalty. Unfortunately, for the Paladins, Carleton would score three times over the next five minutes and two seconds, and all of a sudden pull even with RMC. Still tied 5-5 in the final minute of regulation, the Paladins were called for tripping. On the ensuing powerplay, the Ravens would take the lead with just 21 seconds to play to finish off their comeback.

Michael Davis got the start in goal for RMC and made 41 saves. To go along with their two-goal nights, both Gallant and Foston each picked up an assist as well. Also earning an assist on Saturday were Connor Prestwich, Brock McNaughton and Noah Matulu.

Looking to rebound, the Paladins will hit the road next weekend as they head to Montreal on November 15 to take on the Concordia Stingers.

Espérant tourner la page après une difficile défaite aux mains de Nipissing la veille, les Paladins du CMR étaient de retour au jeu samedi soir pour affronter les Ravens de Carleton. Malgré qu'ils aient mené une bonne partie du match, les joueurs du CMR n'ont pas su résister à une poussée en fin de rencontre des Ravens, s'inclinant 6 à 5.

Bien que les Ravens aient ouvert la marque tôt dans la rencontre sur un but en avantage numérique, les Paladins ont contrôlé le jeu pour la majeure partie du match à partir de ce moment. William Gallant a créé l'égalité 1-1 après six minutes de jeu grâce à son deuxième filet de la saison.

Toujours à égalité 1-1 pour démarrer la deuxième période, le CMR a pris les devants pour la première fois dans la soirée quand Cole Foston a inscrit son quatrième but de la saison. Seulement 52 secondes plus tard, Gallant a marqué son deuxième but de la rencontre, prolongeant l'avance du CMR à deux buts. En fin de période, les Paladins ont ajouté un autre but quand Liam Serviss a ajouté à la marque en désavantage numérique. Le CMR menait 4-1 après deux périodes de jeu.

Face à ce retard de trois buts, les Ravens se sont rapidement relancés, marquant après cinq minutes de jeu pour réduire l'écart à deux buts. Le CMr a répliqué 48 secondes plus tard, pour se redonner un coussin de trois buts, grâce au deuxième du match de Foston. Avec 12:08 à faire au match, le CMR a dû écouler une punition majeure de cinq minutes. Malheureusement pour les Paladins, Carleton a inscrit trois buts dans les cinq minutes et deux secondes qui ont suivi. À égalité 5-5 avec une minute à jouer, les Paladins ont écopé une punition pour avoir fait trébucher. Sur le jeu de puissance qui a suivi, les Ravens ont pris les devants alors qu'il restait encore 21 secondes au cadran, complétant une remontée victorieuse.

Michael Davis a démarré le match pour le CMR et a réalisé 41 arrêts. En plus de leurs deux buts chacun, Gallant et Foston ont chacun amassé une passe. Connor Prestwich, Brock McNaughton et Noah Matulu ont aussi obtenu une mention d'aide dans ce match.

Les Paladins seront à Montréal samedi prochain, tentant de rebondir face aux Stingers de Concordia.
