Returning to action Saturday evening in Thunder Bay, for their second match in as many days with Lakehead, the RMC Paladins were looking to bounce back from yesterday's defeat. However, despite their efforts and determination, the Paladins, who had just seven rostered athletes, and were missing a pair of starters, were unable to overcome the Thunderwolves, falling 3-0 (13-25, 19-25, 23-25).
Throughout the opening set, RMC was unable to get much going in their favour. With Lakehead carrying much of the momentum throughout the set, the Thunderwolves would go on to win it 25-13.
In the second set, RMC was stuck in an early hole as Lakehead established a 12-8 lead. However, after the Thunderwolves extending the advantage to 15-8, the Palaldins began to push back. Going on a 7-2 run, RMC forced the home team timeout, and trimming the Lakehead lead to just two. The Paladins would ultimately get the lead down to one at 18-17, but from there Lakehead was able to jump back in control. The Thunderwolves would win seven of the next nine points to secure the second set 25-19.
The Paladins opened the third set with a quick run of four straight points. Lakehead quickly come up with a response though, winning the next seven points to go up 7-4. After taking a timeout trailing 11-7, the Paladins once again began to find their groove. RMC would battle back to tie the set 12-12 and then again at 15-15. Again though, the Thunderwolves would reply and swiftly rebuild their advantage at 21-16. Determined to keep the match alive, the Paladins fought back once more, and forced Lakehead into a timeout of their own after cutting the lead to one at 22-21. That would be as close as RMC could get though with Lakehead finding a way to finish of the set, and the match, 25-23.

Eve Smith led the Paladins in kills with 12.
Jayda Phillipson recorded a team-high 16 assists, while
Trisha-Jane Ramirez led the team in digs with 12.
The Paladins will return to action on January 16 when they visit the Brock Badgers.

En deuxième manche, le CMR s'est d'abord creusé un trou alors que Lakehead a pris les devants 12-8. Cependant, après que les Thunderwolves aient prolongé leur avance à 15-8, les Paladins ont commencé à remonter la pente. Marquant sept des neuf points qui ont suivi, le CMR a forcé les hôtes à se prévaloir d'un temps d'arrêt, réduisant l'écart à deux petits points. Les Paladins se sont mêmes approchées à un point (18-17), mais Lakehead a ensuite repris le contrôle, marquant sept des neuf points suivants pour l'emporter 25-19.
Les visiteuses ont démarré la troisième manche en marquant les quatre premiers points, puis Lakehead a répliqué avec une séquence de sept points pour renverser la vapeur et prendre les devants 7-4. Tirant de l'arrière 11-7 et après un temps d'arrêt, les Paladins ont une fois de plus connu de belles séquences pour créer l'égalité 12-12, puis 15-15. Les Thunderwolves ont de nouveau réagi pour mener 21-16. Déterminées à garder ce match en vie, les Paladins ont rebondi une fois de plus, forçant un temps d'arrêt des hôtes après avoir réduit l'écart à un seul point (22-21). Ce fut cependant là le pointage le plus serré puisque Lakehead a trouvé le moyen de fermer les livres pour l'emporter 25-23.

Jayda Phillipson a été la meilleure des siennes avec 16 passes, puis
Trisha-Jane Ramirez a ajouté 12 récupérations.
Les Paladins seront de retour en action le 16 janvier en rendant visite aux Badgers de Brock.
