Paladins Fall Short in Oshawa | Les Paladins s’inclinent à Oshawa

The RMC Paladins were back in action Saturday afternoon as they played their second game in as many days. On the road to Oshawa, the Paladins took on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks for the first time this season. Although RMC battled back throughout the contest, they were unable to get past the Ridgebacks, falling 5-2.

For the first three quarters of the opening period, neither side was able to open the scoring. That changed though when Ontario Tech found the back of the net with just under five minutes to play. Wasting no time responding though, the Paladins quickly got back on even terms. First-year forward, Ben Theron, registered his first career goal as a Paladin just under two minutes later to tie the game 1-1. With the period winding down, the Ridgebacks would restore their lead, going up 2-1 with only 20 seconds remaining in the frame.

Early in the second, Ontario Tech would strike again, taking their first two-goal lead of the day. Again though, RMC would find a way to respond, and again it was a first career goal. This time, Logan McLeod would find the back of the net Ridgebacks net, bringing the Paladins back within one. However, another late period goal would slow the RMC momentum. With just one second to play in the middle period, the Ridgebacks would restore their two-goal lead and take away the momentum that RMC had been building.

Although the Paladins would generate eight shots in the final period, it would be Ontario Tech scoring the only goal. Just over six minutes into the frame, the Ridgebacks would extend their lead to 5-2, which would hold up as the final score.

Making his second start of the season in goal, Joe Ingram-Chambers made 40 saves for RMC. Drawing assists in the contest were Josh Reid, Wade Bolton and Owen Fergusson.

RMC will now turn their attention to a one-game week. The Paladins will head to Ottawa to take on the Gee-Gees on October 29, before returning back home to Constantine Arena on November 6 to host McGill.
