With only two matches remaining on their 2025-26 OUA schedule, the RMC Paladins made their way to Toronto on Friday to take on the TMU Bold. In what was the first of two meeting in as many days, the Paladins took to the court on the Mattamy Athletic Centre, however, they were unable to solve the Bold in a 3-0 (10-25, 13-25, 13-25) loss.
Looking to get themselves settled in to the road match, the Paladins went point for point with TMU initially. However, with the Bold lead 5-4, TMU went on a 13-point run to, all of a sudden, take an 18-4 lead. Using the lead to their advantage, the Bold were able to stay on the attack and further pull away for a 25-10 opening set win.
Although not to the same extend, it was once again an early TMU run that would set them up for success in the second set. Tied 2-2, the Bold would score the next six points in a row to open an 8-2. Despite RMC's efforts, TMU would continue to, slowly but surely, widen the gap. Getting the lead up to 10, and later 12, the Bold would wind up winning the second set 25-13.
RMC continued to try and solve TMU in the third set, but were unable to come up with many answers. TMU opened the set by winning eight of the first nine points, once again putting the Paladins in an early hole. Despite the score not being in their favour, RMC's fight remained consistent. Unfortunately, the Bold proved to be too much on Friday, as they would go on to take the set 25-13.
Ashley Raymond led the Paladins in kill with six.
Jayda Phillipson had a team-high 15 assists, while
Trisha-Jane Ramirez led RMC in digs with nine.
The Paladins will now wrap up their season on Saturday when they take on the Bold for a second consecutive day.
Avec seulement deux matchs à jouer à leur calendrier 2025-2026 des SUO, les Paladins du CMR étaient à Toronto vendredi soir pour y affronter le Bold de TMU. Dans ce qui était le premier de deux matchs en autant de jours, les Paladins ont sauté sur le terrain du Centre sportif Mattamy, mais ils n'ont pas été en mesure de résoudre le Bold, s'inclinant en trois manches (10-25, 13-25 et 13-25).
Cherchant à s'installer dans ce match en déplacement, les Paladins ont répliqué point pour point avec le TMU dans les premiers échanges. Cependant, avec le Bold en avant 5-4, TMU a inscrit 13 points de suite pour soudainement se projeter devant 18-4. Utilisant cette avance à leur avantage, le Bold a été en mesure de garder le cap à l'attaque et se prolonger davantage pour remporter cette première manche 25-10.
Bien que l'avance n'était pas la même, TMU a une fois de plus pris son envol en début de manche pour donner le ton au deuxième engagement. À égalité 2-2, le Bold a marqué les six points suivants pour mener 8-2. Malgré les efforts du CMR, MTU a continué d'accroître son avance lentement, mais sûrement. Avec une avance de 10 points et de 12 points, le
Bold a remporté cette deuxième manche 25-13.
Le CMR n'a pas abandonné ses efforts pour tenter de gagner la troisième manche, mais n'est pas parvenu à trouver de réponses pour autant. TMU a entrepris la manche en remportant huit des neuf premiers points, plaçant encore une fois les Paladins sur les talons. Malgré le pointage qui n'était pas en leur faveur, le CMR n'a jamais baissé les bras, mais le Bold s'est avéré trop fort vendredi, remportant cette troisième manche 25-13.
